About Our Family

We are a warm, busy, and caring family in an exciting season of transition. Both parents are physicians with demanding schedules that can include early starts, long days, and occasional on-call stretches away from home. We have two young children who bring lots of energy and joy to our household, along with a sweet, relaxed, and friendly dog who rounds out our family.

We are laid-back by nature and value trust, flexibility, and good judgment. We are not a family that wants to micromanage. We appreciate someone who can take ownership, make thoughtful decisions, and find solutions that work, even if they are different from how we might do something ourselves.

With a new school year, a new job for one parent, and two young children, there is a lot happening in our household. We have some support in place, but are looking for greater consistency and ownership around meals, family laundry, household organization, and creating practical systems and routines. A great week for us would mean the household is running smoothly and we have more time and space to be present with our family, prioritize our own well-being, and enjoy our home.

We value openness, kindness, and mutual respect and are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive home. We hope to find someone who shares those values and will feel comfortable and valued as part of our household.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Proactive, organized, and solutions-oriented. You naturally notice what needs attention and take initiative without waiting to be asked. You enjoy bringing order to a busy household, creating practical systems and routines, and adapting them as our family's needs change, while respecting the ways we prefer certain things to be done.
  • Independent and confident using good judgment. You are comfortable making day-to-day decisions and keeping things moving without frequent direction. Because of our demanding schedules, we may not always be able to respond to a question right away, so we value someone who can assess a situation and find a thoughtful solution.
  • An open and thoughtful communicator. You are comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas, and providing updates when needed. We expect more communication as we get to know one another, with the goal of developing an easy rhythm built on trust, good communication, and independence.
  • Warm, nonjudgmental, and genuinely helpful. You understand that life with two demanding careers and young children can be busy and approach our home with flexibility and understanding. Most importantly, you enjoy making life easier for a family and are looking for a long-term role where you can build trust, grow alongside us, and become a valued part of our household.

Key Responsibilities

Household Management & Organization

  • Create, maintain, and evolve household organization systems
  • Complete daily resets: load/unload dishwasher, wipe down surfaces, tidy kitchen, make beds, put items where they belong
  • Prep the home before the weekly cleaning service
  • Sort and store outgrown children's clothing in labeled bins for family hand-me-downs
  • Assist with packing and unpacking for family travel
  • Support preparation for hosting events and guests at the home
  • Care for indoor plants
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors
  • Assist with seasonal clothing, décor, and bedding swaps as time allows

Laundry & Linen Care

  • Keep the laundry area tidy and well stocked

Meal Planning & Prep

  • Prepare 3-4 dinners per week with meals ready to serve or easily finish when the family arrives home
  • Prepare 5 workday lunches per week for one parent, including leftovers or other easy grab-and-go options
  • Develop weekly meal plans and share them with the family in advance, focusing on healthy, flavorful meals and a variety of foods; comfort foods are welcome, and you are encouraged to prepare dishes you feel confident making
  • Wash, chop, and store fresh fruits and vegetables, and prepare healthy, grab-and-go snacks such as cut produce, muffins, or other easy options to have on hand
  • Batch prep when helpful while maintaining enough variety that the family is not eating the same meals repeatedly throughout the week

  • Wash and sanitize children’s water bottles and cups for school and daycare
  • Handle kitchen clean-up and ongoing maintenance

Pet Care

  • Walk the family dog around the block once a day and allow him out of his crate during your time in the home
  • Monitor and maintain pet supply inventory, including auto-order tracking
