SailPoint is an American identity security company founded in 2005 that governs who has access to what across an organisation's systems, a problem distinct from simply logging users in. Its platform discovers entitlements across applications, runs the certification reviews auditors require, provisions and removes access as people join and change roles, and increasingly governs machine identities, which now vastly outnumber human ones. Headquartered in Austin, it was taken private by Thoma Bravo in 2022 and returned to the New York Stock Exchange in 2025, and it sells largely to regulated enterprises where access reviews are a statutory requirement.

Identity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. SailPoint enables organizations to discover, govern and protect every identity. SailPoint secures this new era by delivering AI-powered identity security designed to create efficiency, minimize risk, and empower human decision-makers with confidence and control in a rapidly evolving threat landscape. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex, enterprise-scale challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence.

Overview:

SailPoint is setting the standard for modern identity security, enabling the world's most complex enterprises to seamlessly manage and secure access to applications, data, and infrastructure through the lens of identity .

We are seeking a strategic Director of Communications to cut through the noise and demonstrate how SailPoint is solving critical identity challenges across all enterprise identities-human, machine, and AI agents. This is a pivotal time for SailPoint, and this leader will play a crucial role in expanding our market leadership as we guide organizations through the 5 Horizons of Identity Security toward an intelligent, autonomous future.

As our Director of Communications, you will lead the global team responsible for explaining how SailPoint is securing the future of enterprise technology through impactful corporate, product and ecosystem partner communication efforts. Reporting to the SVP of Corporate Marketing, you will manage internal and agency teams, lead key comms initiatives, and ensure we execute modern, digital-first communications campaigns.

We are looking for someone who can easily grasp complex technical cybersecurity concepts and translate them into stories that help the market understand why SailPoint is the core of the modern security stack.

Key Responsibilities:

What You’ll Do:

  • Act as a steward of SailPoint’s corporate narrative, ensuring it evolves alongside our strategy, market position, and growth trajectory
  • Own and Broaden Strategic Media Relationships: Establish, scale, and nurture trust-based relationships with key reporters, editors, and influencers across top-tier business publications (WSJ, CNBC, Axios), key technology outlets (TechCrunch, The Verge), industry-specific cybersecurity trade press (ISMG, Dark Reading, CRN), and new media platforms (Substacks, security podcasts, and independent tech creators).
  • Cross-Functional PR Integration: Collaborate closely with Product, Product Marketing, and Partner Marketing teams to translate innovations, integrations and product launches into communications that articulate benefits and outcomes to ensure these narratives resonate with our key stakeholders: media, industry and financial analysts, customers, partners, and our global employee base.
  • High-Impact Public Relations Campaigns: Plan, resource, and execute modern, digital-first PR campaigns centered on critical milestones, major product launches, key industry events (e.g., SailPoint Navigate), and strategic company moments to consistently capture market share and solidify SailPoint’s category leadership.
  • Proactive Trendjacking & Media Engagement: Build and lead a "never stop innovating" media team capable of rapid response. Leverage breaking industry news, emerging AI and cybersecurity regulations, and trends to insert SailPoint’s strategic perspective into active news cycles.
  • Crisis Communications & Reputation Management: Formulate, maintain, and execute proactive crisis communication frameworks and responsive templates. Act as the primary strategic advisor to executive leadership during high-stakes situations-such as brand reputation threats, fraudulent domain spoofing, and platform outages-ensuring clear, swift, and aligned messaging that protects SailPoint's brand equity.
  • Podcast Management & Production: Oversee and drive the end-to-end production, content strategy, and guest acquisition for SailPoint’s Identity Matters podcast. Use this platform to elevate company spokespeople, host prominent industry guests, and drive engaging discussions on modern identity security, AI risks, and zero-trust security strategies.
  • Executive & Spokesperson Enablement: Act as a principal PR point of contact and media coach for C-level executives. Prepare leaders for interviews ensuring they convey key narratives with authority and clarity.
  • Measure, analyze and report: Analytics are key. Report on the effectiveness of corporate communications programs, using insights and data to inform strategy and demonstrate business impact, maintaining high standards of quality and execution.

Team & Executive Leadership:

  • Embrace AI-powered tools and workflows to increase speed, scale, and effectiveness while preserving quality, credibility, and SailPoint’s unique voice
  • People Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a global team of communications professionals. Foster a culture of "never stop innovating" within the communications function.
  • Strategic Advisor: Serve as a trusted advisor to senior communications leadership on external trends, advising on when to lean into public conversations, how to address brand reputation matters (such as fraudulent domain spoofing), and when we should pivot based on shifting media landscapes.

You May Be a Good Fit if You Have:

  • 12-15+ years of relevant experience in public relations, corporate communications, or product PR (ideally in cybersecurity, identity access management, enterprise SaaS, or cloud infrastructure) with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience supporting publicly traded companies and earnings communications.
  • Strong Writing Skills & Storytelling Mastery: You possess a deep love for the written word and are genuinely thrilled by a beautifully crafted press release. You have a proven ability to take complex, deeply technical security concepts and distill them into digestible, punchy soundbites that capture media attention.
  • Digital Native: You are fluent in both traditional and new media ecosystems. You understand that an impactful enterprise story can come from a niche developer Substack, an influencer's post, or a traditional business journal.
  • Proven Track Record: Combination of agency and in-house communications experience. Experience managing external communications during major corporate milestones, such as high-profile product launches, global brand campaigns, or significant M&A activities .
  • Storytelling Mastery: The ability to take complex, deeply technical security concepts (like segregation of duties, machine learning access models, or multi-tenant SaaS architectures) and make them accessible, urgent, and compelling for a general business and executive audience.
  • Executive Presence: Comfortable challenging and coaching executives on their communication style, key messaging delivery, and media presence.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or Marketing; an advanced degree is preferred but not required.
