We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging - but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.
What You'll Build
As a Developer, you will contribute to the Edge Integration Cell (EIC), a strategic runtime within SAP Integration Suite. EIC extends enterprise integration capabilities to edge, sovereign, private, and on-premises environments through a secure, lightweight, and highly efficient architecture.
EIC operates in environments where connectivity to cloud services is limited, intermittent, or unavailable for extended periods. Engineers on this team build platform capabilities that must function reliably under these constraints - spanning security, lifecycle management, operability, and resilient message processing.
You will be part of a team building secure, scalable, and resilient platform capabilities for the future of enterprise integration.
In this role, you will:
- Implement, test, and maintain capabilities for the Edge Integration Cell, primarily using Java while working with Go and other technologies where appropriate.
- Build and improve platform components that function reliably without continuous cloud connectivity.
- Apply AI-assisted engineering tools as part of your daily workflow to write better code faster.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues across distributed systems, Kubernetes-based platforms, and integration runtimes.
- Work closely with Product Management, UX, architects, and engineering teams within an Empowered Product Team (EPT) to deliver customer-centric outcomes.
- Implement features based on technical designs and specifications, ensuring quality, test coverage, and maintainability.
- Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and technical planning to grow your understanding of the platform and contribute your perspective.
- Take responsibility for your deliverables from implementation through testing and deployment.
- Learn from and contribute to the team through code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
What You Bring
You are a motivated software engineer with a solid foundation in software development and a genuine interest in distributed systems, cloud technologies, and platform engineering. You write clean, testable code and take pride in delivering working software.
You are curious, eager to learn, and comfortable asking questions. You take responsibility for your work and actively seek feedback to improve. You are not afraid to work on unfamiliar problems and are willing to dig into complex systems to understand how they work.
You work well in collaborative teams and are excited about building software that operates in challenging, real-world environments.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline - or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in software development with Java as a primary programming language. Exposure to Go or other languages is a plus. Willingness to learn new programming languages as needed.
- Familiarity with distributed systems concepts and cloud-native development practices.
- Experience with or strong interest in containerization and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.
- Openness to using AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development workflows.
- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, testing, version control, and CI/CD practices.
- Familiarity with API design, concurrency concepts, and debugging distributed applications.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in agile and globally distributed teams. Willingness to ask questions, share ideas, and participate actively in technical discussions.
- A reliable, quality-conscious approach to work with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Good written and spoken English.
