About the Job:
As a Cloud Systems Administrator for the Managed Application Services (MAS) team in SAS’s Cloud and Information Services (CIS) division, you will be responsible for all aspects of our hosted and remote managed SAS application environments.
You will work collaboratively with customers, analysts, developers and implementation team members to manage, diagnose, debug, design, and prototype SAS and third-party enterprise class software systems.
You will work with global R&D, Product, Technical Support, and CIS teams to drive customer satisfaction and ensure service quality across all our hosted and remote managed customer environments. A keen eye for continuous improvement, quality, efficiency, and automation with a passion to drive it in all aspects of the job is required.
Customer Engagement Check requirement:
As part of certain customer engagements, you may be required to meet additional customer-specific requirements, such as background checks, security vetting, security clearances, or other access requirements.As a Cloud Systems Administrator, you will:
- Administer, maintain and support SAS software and customer environments.
- Deploy, configure and operate SAS platforms and supporting technologies.
- Execute upgrades, migrations, platform lifecycle activities, changes, service requests and operational activities in accordance with established processes.
- Monitor platform health, performance and availability to ensure reliable service delivery.
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, application issues and platform-related problems.
- Develop automation, operational tooling and reusable processes to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks and knowledge articles.
- Work directly with customers and collaborate with engineering, support and infrastructure teams to deliver successful outcomes.
Required qualifications
- 2+ years of technical experience in enterprise software administration, platform operations, or technical support
- Experience in at least two of the following areas
- Enterprise platform administration and support.
- Systems administration supporting Linux or UNIX environments.
- Customer-facing technical support, consulting, or professional services.
- Software deployment, upgrades, migrations, or operational support activities.
- Experience troubleshooting application, platform, or infrastructure-related issues
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer engagement skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across technical teams and customer environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience installing, configuring and administering SAS software and solutions.
- Experience supporting SAS 9.4, SAS Viya 3.x, or SAS Viya platforms.
- Experience with Linux/UNIX administration and scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar)
- Experience with cloud platforms, container technologies, or Kubernetes.
- Experience troubleshooting enterprise applications, middleware, or distributed systems.
- Experience developing automation using tools such as Python, Ansible, or related technologies
- Familiarity with IT service management practices including incident, request, and change management.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, preferably Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
Additional Skills and Abilities:
- Understanding of security, performance, server design, cross-platform architectures, SAS products, SAS solutions, storage, networking, and enterprise hardware.
- Proficiency with Linux system administration tasks including configuration, troubleshooting, and automation.
- Ability to develop scripts and automation solutions that improve operational efficiency and consistency.
- Familiarity with networking, distributed systems, and cloud computing concepts.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work well with internal and external customers.
- Strong analytic, inductive, and deductive reasoning skills
- Ability to independently learn how to use new facilities quickly from supplied documentation
- Understands the interdependencies between multiple systems and software within a computing infrastructure
- Understanding of complex system architectures and enterprise infrastructures
