The Opportunity:
The Ministry of Highways is seeking a highly motivated Supervisor of Operations for the Green Lake Section within the Operation and Maintenance Division. You will supervise staff and provide guidance, coaching and leadership to a team within your geographic area and will be responsible for the operation and general maintenance of the provincial transportation network consisting of roads and highways.

To qualify for this position, you will possess a valid Class 1A license. If you are invited to attend an interview for this position, you will be required to provide a current driver's abstract.
- Performs various highway maintenance functions in the summer and snow and ice removal during winter season.
- Operates, services, and maintains heavy equipment such as tandem trucks with hydrodrum, spinner, and snowplow attachments; motor graders; and front-end loaders.
- Maintains records and logs of hours of equipment operation hours, repairs, and materials applied to highways.
- Prepares informational reports to support effective road system management and ensures staff compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and ministry roadwork policies.
- Supervises a team and is accountable for program delivery within assigned areas.
- Interaction with the public, landowners, contractors, municipalities and towns to address questions, inquiries or concerns.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:
The successful candidate will have knowledge of procedures and equipment operation related to the proper operation, maintenance and service of heavy-duty motor equipment such as a motor grader/tandem truck; mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, fuel and lubrication systems of heavy equipment; and the applied rate of various types of material in order to operate controls such as clutches, hydrodrums and levers. You will also have knowledge of workplace safety and traffic control procedures and occupational health, workplace hazardous materials and dangerous goods policies and practices.
