Presales Solutions Engineer - HPC
WHY WE NEED YOU ?
As our HPC business continues to grow rapidly, we are strengthening our Presales team to support the increasing number and complexity of customer projects.
As a Presales Solutions Engineer - HPC, you will be the technical point of contact for our customers throughout their projects, from the initial technical discussions and Proofs of Concept to onboarding and ongoing support.
Your mission will be to understand our customers' simulation and computational needs, design the right HPC solutions, and help them successfully run their workloads on Scaleway, while working closely with our Sales and Solution teams.
This role combines hands-on technical work, customer interaction, and project ownership. You will work on a wide variety of use cases across industries such as automotive, energy, aerospace, and space.
YOUR FUTURE TEAM
You will join a growing Presales team currently composed of 2 Presales Engineers and their manager, working closely with several teams across Scaleway, including Solution Engineers, Web/Application Developers, Infrastructure Engineers, and DevOps Engineers.
Each Presales Engineer acts as the technical owner of their customers, taking responsibility for onboarding, technical support, and the successful delivery of their projects. You will work closely with the Sales and Solution teams to help develop opportunities, including upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
The team is currently expanding to support the strong growth of Scaleway's HPC business and to maintain a high level of technical expertise and customer support as computational workloads continue to increase.
This is a highly collaborative environment where you will have the opportunity to develop your expertise across HPC, Cloud, infrastructure, coding, data, and computational science.
YOUR DAILY ROUTINE
Work directly with customers to understand their technical and computational challenges and translate them into suitable HPC solutions.
Lead and support technical Proofs of Concept, from initial requirements gathering to deployment and validation.
Demonstrate Scaleway's HPC and Cloud solutions to technical and business stakeholders.
Design and deploy computing environments adapted to customers' workloads and simulation requirements.
Act as the technical owner for your customers during onboarding and provide technical support throughout their projects.
Provide ongoing technical support to customers, helping their technical teams use and troubleshoot the solution.
Work hands-on with technologies such as Linux/Bash, Docker, MPI, Python SDKs, S3, Slurm, and Lustre.
Help customers migrate and run their multiphysics and simulation workloads on Scaleway's infrastructure.
Collaborate with Sales teams to support opportunities and contribute to the development of customer projects, including upsell and cross-sell initiatives.
Coordinate with Solution Engineers, Infrastructure, DevOps, and Application teams to ensure customer projects move forward smoothly.
Participate in specialized trade shows and events.
- Contribute, when relevant, to external technical documentation and blog posts.
ABOUT YOU
HARDSKILLS:
3+ years of professional experience in HPC, numerical simulation, computational engineering, scientific computing, or a closely related field.
Strong understanding of HPC environments and hands-on experience with technologies such as Linux/Bash, Docker, and MPI.
Experience with at least one HPC scheduling or storage technology such as Slurm or Lustre.
Experience working with Python and/or cloud storage technologies such as S3.
Strong knowledge of at least one multiphysics or numerical simulation domain, such as CFD, FEA, structural mechanics, fluid dynamics, or multiphysics.
Experience with simulation software such as Ansys, Siemens STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, Abaqus, COMSOL, Code_Aster, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent is highly valuable.
Experience working on technical PoCs, customer projects, application engineering, presales, or technical consulting is a strong plus.
Professional proficiency in English is mandatory.

Strong customer-facing communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with technical stakeholders.
Excellent ability to explain and simplify complex technical concepts, connecting Cloud/HPC infrastructure with customers' business and engineering needs.
Strong ownership and project management skills: you are comfortable being the technical owner of your customers and making sure projects move forward.
Proactive and autonomous mindset: you take ownership of your topics and anticipate potential issues rather than waiting for them to be escalated.
Collaborative and empathetic approach, with the ability to work effectively with Sales and multiple technical teams.
Curiosity and willingness to learn: you are comfortable developing expertise in technologies or domains that you do not yet master.
Commercial awareness and the ability to understand customer needs and identify relevant technical opportunities.
