Scopely is looking for an Art Director to join an unannounced title based in our Shanghai office (5 days in the office).

We are in the early stages of development on an ambitious mobile game in China, and we’re assembling a team of passionate game makers to craft unforgettable characters and immersive adventures that players will love.
What You Will Do
- Partner with the Global Sr. Art Director to execute the visual vision and quality standards for mobile game features, events, and content.
- Lead the artistic development of game features from concept through final implementation.
- Serve as the primary art liaison with external IP partners by presenting work for review, facilitating feedback and approvals, and ensuring clear communication and alignment between external stakeholders and the internal art team.
- Create, review, and provide feedback on art assets to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to brand standards.
- Act as the art representative on cross-functional feature teams, collaborating closely with Design, Product, Engineering, UX, and external partners.
- Establish and maintain visual targets, benchmarks, and best practices for content creation.
- Supervise outsource vendors, overseeing schedule, assigning work and providing feedback.
- Organize and lead art reviews, brainstorming sessions, and creative discussions.
- Help improve workflows, pipelines, and production processes in partnership with Technical Art and Engineering.
- Identify creative risks and opportunities and communicate recommendations to project leadership.
- Contribute directly to production as needed while helping the team deliver high-quality work on schedule.
What We're Looking For
- 6+ years of experience in game development, visual design, or a related creative field.
- Experience leading art production for shipped games, live-service products, or major game features.
- Strong artistic fundamentals, including composition, color, visual hierarchy, and player-focused design.
- Proven ability to provide clear, constructive feedback and mentor artists across disciplines.
- Experience working closely with cross-functional teams throughout the development process.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of game development pipelines, content creation workflows, and production processes.
- Proficiency with industry-standard art and design tools..
- Possesses 2D/3D generalist skill set, including modeling and rendering.
- Proficient experience with Maya.
- Experience with Unity 3D.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid environment and handle stress appropriately and/or ability to solve practical problems and be sufficiently adaptable to handle dynamic situations with little advance notice.
- Must be proficient in English.
Plus if...
- Experience with JIRA and GIT.
- BA or equivalent degree in studio art, computer graphics or technical field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience preferred.
- Familiarity with top F2P mobile games.
