Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.

The Manager, Trade Reconciliation and Client Reporting, is responsible for leading a large, high-performing operations team within Global Wealth Management, supporting MD Financial Management’s lines of business.

The role provides leadership and oversight across two distinct operational mandates: Trade Reconciliation and Settlement, and Client Reporting. The successful candidate will ensure the effective delivery of operational services, maintain strong risk and regulatory controls, oversee third-party service providers, and drive continuous improvement across both functions.

This position requires an experienced people leader with a strong understanding of wealth management back-office operations, the ability to manage multiple complex mandates, and a demonstrated commitment to developing talent, strengthening operational capabilities and delivering sustainable business results.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team: Provide leadership, direction and oversight to a large operational team responsible for two distinct mandates. Establish clear performance expectations, foster accountability, coach and develop employees, build succession capabilities, and create an environment that encourages engagement, collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Oversee Trade Reconciliation and Settlement operations: Manage daily trade reconciliation and settlement activities across multiple dealer platforms, ensuring timely and accurate processing, effective exception management, and compliance with applicable settlement requirements. Maintain an understanding of the operational differences between dealer models, custody arrangements and settlement processes
  • Oversee Client Reporting operations: Ensure the accurate, timely and compliant production and distribution of client statements, financial reporting and other required client communications. Maintain a strong understanding of applicable regulatory reporting requirements, including CIRO requirements, client statement content, reporting accuracy and disclosure obligations
  • Manage third-party service providers: Oversee relationships with external vendors supporting statement production, printing, mailing, document imaging and related services. Monitor service performance, resolve operational issues, manage service-level expectations and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality and client experience
  • Maintain effective operational and regulatory controls: Ensure appropriate controls, reconciliations, quality assurance and escalation processes are in place across both mandates. Identify and proactively manage operational, financial and regulatory risks, including those associated with trade settlement, reporting accuracy, document management and third-party dependencies
  • Support multiple dealer and operating models: Develop and maintain an understanding of the different dealer structures, custody and settlement arrangements, and operational processes supporting MD Financial Management’s lines of business, including the implications of omnibus and other custody models
  • Drive operational excellence and process improvement: Challenge existing processes, identify opportunities for automation and simplification, and lead initiatives that improve productivity, strengthen controls, reduce operational risk and enhance service delivery.
  • Build strong partnerships: Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, including Technology, Compliance, Risk, Finance, front-office partners and other operations teams, as well as external vendors and custodians, to resolve issues and support business priorities
  • Provide leadership through change: Lead the team through evolving business requirements, regulatory changes, system enhancements and operational transformation while maintaining service stability and employee engagement
  • Manage performance and operational delivery: Establish and monitor key performance indicators, service-level commitments, productivity measures and quality standards. Use operational data and reporting to identify trends, address emerging risks and drive sustainable improvements.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, preferably three or more years within financial services or wealth management operations, with a proven ability to lead, coach and develop high-performing teams
  • Strong knowledge of wealth management back-office operations, including an understanding of trade processing, reconciliations, settlements, custody arrangements, client reporting and operational controls
  • Experience managing multiple operational functions or complex mandates simultaneously, with the ability to balance competing priorities, regulatory requirements and service expectations
  • A sound understanding of trade settlement processes, including the differences between dealer structures, custody arrangements and omnibus operating models.

Knowledge of client reporting and applicable regulatory requirements, including CIRO rules relating to client statements, account reporting, disclosure and recordkeeping

  • Familiarity with client financial statements, investment account reporting, transaction activity, holdings and the operational processes that support accurate client reporting
  • Experience working with third-party service providers, including vendors responsible for printing, mailing, document production, imaging and related operational services
  • A strong understanding of operational risk management, internal controls, audit requirements and regulatory compliance within a financial services environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to understand complex operational processes, identify root causes and implement effective solutions
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements, automation opportunities and operational efficiencies while maintaining effective risk controls
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across different business functions
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage a high-volume operational environment and respond effectively to emerging issues
  • A demonstrated commitment to talent development, performance management, employee engagement and succession planning
  • The ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, take ownership of business outcomes and make informed decisions with appropriate levels of autonomy
