Active Directory Engineer

The Active Directory Engineer will play a key role in a large-scale enterprise identity modernization program within a complex, multi-operating-company environment. This position is responsible for supporting and accelerating Active Directory consolidation across the organization, with a primary focus on three core workstreams: Migration of user identities from each operating company's on-premises Active Directory into the target identity environment. Migration of user endpoints to an Entra cloud-native-only model. Application remediation to support the target identity and endpoint architecture

The core responsibilities for the job include the following:

Identity Migration:

• Coordinate migration of user identities from each operating company's on-premises Active Directory into the target identity environment.
• Partner with operating company IT teams to execute migration prerequisites and activities, including password synchronization, agent/connector installation, environment readiness validation, migration wave support, cutover, and post-migration stabilization.
• Track migration readiness, progress, issues, dependencies, and risks across multiple operating companies.
• Support execution of user and group migration activities in alignment with the approved solution design.
• Troubleshoot and coordinate resolution of synchronization, connectivity, provisioning, and directory integration issues.
• Maintain migration documentation, runbooks, status reporting, and action trackers.

Endpoint Migration to Entra Cloud-Native Only:

• Support the migration of user endpoints following identity migration to enable an Entra cloud-native-only operating model.
• Coordinate with endpoint engineering, workplace technology, security, and operating company support teams on device transition planning and execution.
• Assist with sequencing, pilot planning, deployment readiness, and rollback considerations.
• Support activities related to cloud-native enrollment, authentication changes, policy alignment, and end-user transition.
• Identify and help resolve issues involving legacy domain dependencies, access models, device registration, and user experience impacts.

Application Remediation:

• Work with application owners, infrastructure teams, and support teams to identify applications with dependencies on legacy AD, LDAP, or on-premises authentication.
• Assess the impact of identity and endpoint migration on business applications.
• Coordinate remediation planning, testing, and implementation activities required to align applications to the target environment.
• Track remediation status, unresolved issues, and blockers that could impact migration timelines.
• Support efforts to reduce business disruption by ensuring dependencies are identified and addressed ahead of migration milestones.

Program Delivery and Stakeholder Coordination:

• Serve as a liaison between central program leadership and operating company teams.
• Drive consistent execution across a decentralized environment with differing levels of technical maturity and local ownership.
• Facilitate working sessions, migration planning meetings, issue triage calls, and stakeholder updates.
• Communicate status, key decisions, risks, dependencies, and open actions clearly and professionally.
• Ensure project and technical documentation remains current and actionable for delivery teams and leadership stakeholders.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Active Directory, identity, infrastructure, workplace technology, or enterprise migration roles.
• Hands-on experience supporting Active Directory migration, identity modernization, or hybrid identity programs.
• Experience working in complex enterprise environments with multiple business units, operating companies, or distributed IT teams.
• Working knowledge of on-premises Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, identity synchronization concepts, password synchronization, and directory agents/connectors.
• Experience supporting delivery of endpoint migration or modern workplace transformation initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate across technical and business teams to execute migration plans.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including status reporting, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a multi-entity, federated, or acquisition-heavy organization.
• Prior consulting experience supporting enterprise transformation, identity modernization, or infrastructure consolidation programs.
• Familiarity with migrations from traditional domain-joined endpoint models to cloud-native endpoint management.
• Experience with application authentication remediation involving AD-, LDAP-, or legacy identity-dependent applications.
• Experience developing migration runbooks, readiness checklists, cutover plans, and remediation trackers.
• Exposure to cross-functional delivery involving security, infrastructure, endpoint, and application workstreams.
• Relevant Microsoft or identity-related certifications are a plus.
