Database Platform Engineer

Our engineering teams build and operate modern platforms for data-intensive, low-latency environments. As a Database Platform Engineer, you will help us operate, improve, and automate database and data storage technologies used by developers, data engineers, analysts, and traders. 

This role is suitable for someone with a solid database foundation - ideally with experience in PostgreSQL, cloud environments, monitoring, scripting, or database operations - who wants to grow into larger, more complex, enterprise-grade database environments, cloud-native database services, automation, and high-availability systems. 

What would you work on:   

You will work with experienced engineers on the operation, improvement, and automation of database platforms in cloud environments. 

• Operating and supporting database platforms in cloud environments. 
• Working with PostgreSQL and other database technologies used by data engineering, analytics, and trading systems. 
• Learning and gradually taking ownership of enterprise-grade database environments. 
• Monitoring database availability, performance, capacity, backups, and security-related configuration. 
• Troubleshooting database errors, slow queries, resource consumption, and data availability issues in cooperation with developers, data engineers, and analysts. 
• Supporting performance tuning activities, including query analysis, indexing, execution plans, and resource usage investigation. 
• Helping improve ETL and data processing workflows by identifying bottlenecks and reliability issues. 
• Maintaining database structures, access patterns, operational procedures, and documentation. 
• Writing or improving scripts and automation for recurring DBA tasks, monitoring, deployments, and operational checks. 
• Participating in cloud infrastructure and database platform improvements, including automation, observability, and reliability practices. 
• Continuously learning new database and data storage technologies and applying them where they improve scalability, reliability, or maintainability.

You do not need to know every technology we use. We are looking for someone with a solid database foundation, practical problem-solving skills, and motivation to grow into demanding production environments. 

• Some hands-on experience with database administration, database operations, database support, or database development. 
• Practical experience with PostgreSQL or another relational database such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL. 
• Understanding of database concepts such as indexing, query performance, backups, replication, permissions, schemas, and availability. 
• Experience with cloud environments, ideally Azure. 
• Interest in learning enterprise database platforms and operating databases in high-availability, business-critical environments. 
• Ability to investigate technical problems systematically and communicate findings clearly to engineers, analysts, or other stakeholders. 
• Basic scripting or automation experience using tools such as Bash, Python, Terraform, or similar. 
• Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, logs, metrics, or operational tooling. 
• Basic understanding of ETL, data integration, or data warehousing concepts. 
• Basic experience with PL/SQL or other database development is a benefit. 
• Curiosity, ownership, and willingness to learn technologies beyond traditional DBA work, including DevOps practices, cloud-native services, and lakehouse/data platform technologies.
