The Role
Reporting to the Team Lead, Software Development, the Senior Software Developer (frontend) provides technical leadership, mentorship, and architectural guidance while delivering high-quality solutions for Driver, a cloud-based geoscience auto-modelling application. The role works with product designers, domain experts, and back-end developers to create intuitive, performant React interfaces and interactive 3D visualizations for complex geoscience data.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Design and architect complex frontend applications, components, and modules that are performant, reliable, scalable, and maintainable.
- Build intuitive and visually compelling customer interfaces in React for Driver, Seequent’s cloud-based geoscience auto-modelling application.
- Integrate with Seequent’s 3D visualization library to present complex geoscience data in an interactive, responsive, and scalable way.
- Evaluate design alternatives and trade-offs, communicate design views, and address functional and non-functional requirements, including security.
- Design, code, test, document, integrate, and refactor complex software while promoting agreed development standards, methods, and tools.
- Lead design and code reviews, mentor junior developers, and help strengthen technical capability across the team.
- Coordinate release activities and help ensure releases meet quality, security, compliance, and business requirements.
- Define and deliver small projects or sub-projects, collaborating across disciplines and applying research insights and emerging technologies.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- 7+ years of relevant software development experience, primarily focused on frontend web development.
- Extensive experience building frontend applications with JavaScript or TypeScript and React.
- Experience developing, operating, and maintaining customer-facing web applications in production, including troubleshooting, monitoring, and performance optimization.
- Experience with Three.js or another web-based 3D rendering library.
- The ability to work autonomously, navigate complex or ambiguous requirements, and deliver to time and quality expectations.
- The ability to influence stakeholders, collaborate across functions, communicate complex ideas, and apply creative problem-solving approaches.
- Experience with web-based data science pipelines, Python and FastAPI or similar frameworks, CI/CD and DevOps practices, or micro-frontend migrations is an asset.
