About the role

We’re looking for a Payroll Trainee to join our People Operations team and build a strong foundation in Payroll.

Working closely with our Payroll Specialist and the wider People Operations team, you’ll get hands-on exposure to the full payroll cycle, Spanish labour administration and our HR and payroll systems, gradually taking on more responsibility and ownership as you develop in the role.

This is not a role where you’ll spend your time observing from the sidelines. From the beginning, you’ll work with real payroll processes, employee data and People Operations activities, learning how payroll works in practice within a fast-growing, international company.

You don’t need to arrive knowing everything. We’re looking for someone who is curious, comfortable with numbers, highly attentive to detail and eager to learn. We’ll give you the exposure and support to develop your expertise over time.

It’s a great opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who wants to build a future in Payroll and People Operations and progressively become more autonomous in the role.

Location & ways of working: This role is based in Barcelona and follows our hybrid working model, typically 3 days per week in the office and 2 days working from home. This is not a remote position, so please apply only if you are currently based in Barcelona or willing to relocate and can commit to this hybrid setup.

Requirements

What challenges will you be solving

  • Learn the payroll cycle from end to end: support the monthly payroll process, including the preparation, validation and review of payroll inputs and documentation.

  • Help us keep our payroll data accurate: maintain employee and payroll information across our systems and make sure changes are correctly reflected and documented.

  • Support the employee lifecycle: help manage the payroll and administrative side of hires, contract changes, leaves, absences and terminations.

  • Learn Spanish labour and Social Security administration: support Social Security and other payroll-related administrative processes while developing your knowledge of Spanish payroll practices.

  • Help ensure payroll is right: support payroll checks and reconciliations, identify discrepancies and learn how to investigate and resolve them.

  • Keep our payroll operations organised: maintain payroll documentation, trackers and internal controls so that information is accurate, accessible and reliable.

  • Support our employees: help respond to payroll-related questions and collaborate with People Operations, Finance and our external partners when needed.

  • Grow your ownership: as your knowledge develops, progressively take responsibility for more complex payroll activities.

  • Help us work smarter: bring curiosity and fresh ideas to how we operate, contributing to the improvement and automation of our payroll processes.

What you'll need

  • You’re at the beginning of your career and genuinely interested in developing your expertise in Payroll and People Operations.

  • You have studied or are currently studying Labour Relations, Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field.

  • You’re comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets and detailed information, and you naturally pay attention to accuracy.

  • You’re organised, proactive and curious, and you’re comfortable asking questions when you don’t know something.

  • You enjoy understanding how and why things work, rather than simply following a process.

  • You’re comfortable handling confidential information responsibly.

  • You can work professionally in Spanish and have a good level of English.

  • Previous exposure to A3innuva or other payroll software would be a plus.

  • Previous experience in Payroll or HR administration is welcome, but not required. We care much more about your potential, attitude and willingness to learn.

What we offer

We have a strong and sustainable foundation where we provide a secure and reliable workplace. You have the freedom and trust to make the best contribution possible.

  • A role with direct, visible impact: in 12 months you will have changed how seQura hires.

  • Exposure to the whole company: you will work with managers across every function and every market.

  • 23 vacation days + 2 days of free disposal per year.

  • Professional development workshops and seminars.

  • Flexible compensation plan for transportation, restaurants, and kindergarten with Cobee.

  • Health insurance discounts with Sanitas and Adeslas.

  • Urban mobility support via Kleta.

  • Free access to healthy, organic, and sustainable fruits.

  • Wellness Programme covering 6 areas: occupational, physical, financial, emotional, social, and environmental.

Our hiring process

  • Screening call with the Hiring Manager

  • In-depth competency interview with the Hiring Manager

  • Final interview with the team

We kindly ask that you submit your CV in English, as it is the official language of our community.

We promote equal opportunity to all, regardless of age, colour, gender identity, medical condition, physical or mental disability, race, religion, sexual orientation, or other characteristics.
