We are the Unified Employee Experience (UEX) team at ServiceNow. We build EmployeeWorks, our conversation first employee experience, along with Employee Center and Employee Center Pro. Employees at some of the largest enterprises in the world use what we build to find answers and get work done, on web and on mobile. The experience is AI first, so the front end has to be fast, consistent, and built to last.

This is a hands on front end engineering role. You will design and build the components and features that make up the experience, own them through production, and care about how they perform on a real device on a real network. We are looking for a strong front end engineer who wants to go deep on the web as a platform.

What you get to do in this role:

• Design, build, test, and ship front end features end to end, and own them in production
• Build reusable components that other teams in the organization consume, and keep them clean as requirements change
• Work on performance as part of the job, not as cleanup: understand where time goes in the browser and fix it
• Debug hard problems across the front end and the services behind it, and drive them to root cause
• Write the automated tests that keep the experience working release over release
• Participate in design and code reviews, and raise the quality bar in your area
• Use AI tools in your daily development workflow and help the team figure out what actually works
• Work closely with product and design on requirements, and speak up early when something will not hold up technically
• Mentor engineers earlier in their careers as you grow

• Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with the majority of it building web front ends
• Strong hands on expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript, along with a solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, object oriented design, and design patterns
• Strong experience with a modern component based UI framework, such as Lit, React, Angular, or Vue, and a working understanding of web components
• Real understanding of how the browser works, including rendering, the DOM, the event loop, and network behavior
• Hands on front end performance experience, including profiling a slow page and fixing it
• Track record of owning features from design through production, and debugging your own production issues
• Working proficiency in a server side language such as Java, Node.js, Python, or Go
• Experience writing and maintaining automated tests for front end code
• Clear communication, and the ability to work through requirements with product and design
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent technical field, or equivalent practical experience

Preferred

• Exposure to building front ends on top of AI or LLM driven capabilities
• Experience contributing to a design system or a shared component library
• Experience with front end observability or real user performance monitoring
• Familiarity with large scale SaaS platforms
