Role Purpose:
The Data Engineer Intern will assist the Data Engineering team in providing the technical expertise to scale our data infrastructure using the right tools and frameworks, enabling access to high-quality data for Setel and our stakeholders. The responsibilities include performance tuning and monitoring of our data warehouse, developing best-in-class extract, load & transform (ELT) job architecture, and building batch or streaming data pipelines for analytics and ML use cases. This role will require someone with keen interest in developing and implementing data engineering solutions in a cloud environment, experienced with data warehouse technologies and data processing frameworks as well as proficient in Python (or equivalent) and SQL.
In this role you will:
- Build, test and maintain a production deployment for our data pipelines.
- Leverage the appropriate data tools and technologies to automate and version control our data workflows, enabling the team to effectiveness and efficiency.
- Monitor and tune/optimise the performance of our data pipelines using data engineering best practices.
- Identify improvements in data reliability, efficiency and quality through pipeline testing and observability.
- Assist with any related tasks, projects, and other assigned duties as and when deemed necessary.
- Ensure adherence to the compliance of company policies, industry regulations and legal requirements.
You're a great fit if you have/are:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in related field or similar quantitative discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, etc.)
- A minimum of4 months of internship period that starts on October/November 2026
- The role will require strong problem solvers who are technically skilled in data/software engineering practices.
- Experience in working with databases like Postgresql, SQL Server or MongoDB
- Proficient in Python (or equivalent) and SQL.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
