Senior QA Engineer

As a Senior QA Engineer, you will own the quality strategy for backend systems, microservices, and user-facing applications within Shoppingate's fintech-driven super app ecosystem. You will ensure production-grade reliability, scalability, and security by embedding quality throughout the SDLC from requirements to production monitoring. This role goes beyond testing; you are a quality champion and release gatekeeper.

Responsibilities:

• Define and execute a test strategy for backend services, APIs, mobile, and frontend systems.
• Own end-to-end test case design, automation coverage, and release validation.
• Collaborate with developers and product owners to ensure comprehensive test coverage and production readiness
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and enforce quality gates.
• Implement risk-based testing approaches for high-impact fintech flows.
• Leverage AI-powered testing tools to: Generate optimised test cases, Detect regression risks, Improve coverage intelligently
• Design and maintain scalable automation frameworks
• Collaborate with DevOps to ensure stable, production-like test environments.
• Validate observability (logs, metrics, alerts) before release.
• Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive quality improvements.
• Contribute to performance, load, and stress testing initiatives.
• Support security testing efforts and validation of authentication/authorisation flows.
• Promote shift-left testing culture across engineering teams.
• Ensure adherence to STLC best practices in an agile development environment.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in QA with a strong automation background.
• Strong experience testing backend systems and microservices architectures.
• Strong experience in frontend and mobile testing.
• Hands-on experience with: Postgres, Kafka, Redis, REST APIs, Postman, Git, Argo CD, ELK stack, Cloud environments.
• Experience building backend automation frameworks (e. g., Jest, Mocha, RestAssured, etc. )
• Experience with frontend/mobile automation tools (e. g., Cypress, Playwright, Appium).
• Experience with performance/load testing tools (JMeter, k6).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and quality gates.
• Experience using AI-assisted tools to accelerate test generation and defect detection.
• Ability to validate and refine AI-generated test artefacts.
• Data-driven mindset for improving coverage and reducing regression risk
