About ShopView
ShopView is a SaaS platform modernizing how automotive and heavy-duty repair shops operate. We simplify daily shop operations through tools for scheduling, invoicing, customer communication, and workflow management.
We work closely with repair professionals to solve real, everyday problems, helping shops save time, reduce friction, and deliver better service to their customers.
We’re a growing, remote-first team that values ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement. We care about practical solutions, reliable software, and making a measurable difference for the businesses using our product.
The Role
We’re looking for a Manual QA Engineer to help ensure that the ShopView platform delivers a smooth, reliable experience to our users.
Manual testing is at the core of this role: understanding requirements, designing test scenarios, exploring workflows, and identifying issues before release. You’ll work closely with Product and Engineering to clarify expected behavior and verify that features solve the intended problem.
We take an AI-first approach across our engineering and QA workflows. You’ll use AI tools and coding agents to support test planning, investigate issues, identify edge cases, and help build automated coverage. Many of our manual QA engineers also contribute to automation using AI, and you’ll have the opportunity to develop those skills.
You’ll be responsible for reviewing AI-generated output, verifying actual application behavior, and making sure your testing provides reliable evidence of quality.
What You’ll Do
- Design, document, and execute manual test cases for new and existing features.
- Perform exploratory, regression, and smoke testing across the platform.
- Review requirements early, raise questions, and work with Product and Engineering to clarify acceptance criteria and edge cases.
- Test UI behavior, APIs, integrations, and complete business workflows.
- Identify, reproduce, and report bugs with clear steps, expected behavior, and relevant evidence.
- Validate fixes and new functionality before release, and track issues through resolution.
- Use AI tools and coding agents to support test planning, investigate failures, and improve test coverage.
- Contribute to creating and maintaining automated tests, including Playwright E2E tests, with support from AI and the team.
- Review AI-generated test scenarios and automated tests to ensure they check meaningful behavior and match requirements.
- Help maintain test environments and test data, and improve QA processes and documentation.
What We’re Looking For
Testing- 2+ years of professional manual QA experience, preferably with SaaS products or web applications.
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies, test case design, exploratory testing, and bug reporting.
- Experience with tools such as Jira, TestRail, Postman, or similar tools for issue tracking, test management, and API testing.
- Good understanding of web applications, APIs, browser behavior, and frontend/backend interactions.
- Ability to investigate unfamiliar behavior, reproduce issues, and distinguish expected behavior from defects.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools in testing or related work, such as generating test scenarios, investigating issues, or supporting automation.
- Ability to provide clear instructions and relevant context, and critically review AI-generated output.
- Willingness to learn and use coding agents such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or Cursor to contribute to automated testing.
- Ability to recognize missing edge cases, incorrect assumptions, and tests that pass without meaningfully verifying behavior.
- You take responsibility for the quality of your testing, including work supported or generated by AI.
- You approach testing with curiosity, attention to detail, and analytical thinking.
- You communicate clearly, raise questions early, and document findings so others can act on them.
- You collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and QA, and follow issues through to resolution.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience writing or maintaining automated tests with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar tools.
- Experience using AI coding agents to create, debug, or maintain automated tests.
- Basic JavaScript / TypeScript knowledge and the ability to read test code.
- Experience improving AI instructions, reusable skills, or testing workflows.
- Basic SQL knowledge or experience validating data directly in databases.
- Familiarity with performance testing tools.
- Experience working in a startup or fast-paced product team.
Why Join ShopView
- Help improve software used daily by real businesses.
- Work in a team where AI-first testing and development are part of everyday practice.
- Have meaningful ownership over feature quality and release readiness.
- Grow your automation skills through hands-on work with AI coding agents and support from the team.
- Help shape our QA practices and improve how we test and deliver software.
- Work in a remote-first team that values practical solutions, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
