Siemens is a German technology conglomerate founded in Berlin in 1847 by Werner von Siemens around a telegraph that indicated letters rather than Morse code. After a decade of divestments it now concentrates on industry, infrastructure, transport and healthcare, supplying factory automation and control systems, building and grid technology, trains and signalling, and the Teamcenter and NX design software acquired through a long run of software purchases. The Siemens Xcelerator platform ties hardware to software and digital twins, and the group retains a majority stake in the separately listed medical imaging company Siemens Healthineers.

Position Overview:

Ready to lead where the final product comes together?

Our continued growth has created an exciting opportunity for a Production Supervisor - Final Assembly, Locomotive. In this highly visible, hands-on leadership role, you’ll be at the heart of our production operation, leading a skilled team responsible for bringing our locomotives through final assembly.

You’ll lead from the floor, coaching and developing your team while driving safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery. We’re looking for a leader who knows how to motivate people, solve problems, remove roadblocks, and keep production moving while maintaining high standards.

What your day may look like:

  • Lead daily production operations by setting priorities, managing workflow, and coordinating production sequences to meet project and cross-functional requirements.
  • Drive results across safety, quality, schedule, and labor performance, keeping the team focused on achieving production targets and commitments.
  • Build and manage a high-performing team through workforce planning, hiring, promotions, coaching, training, development, and performance reviews.
  • Keep your team connected and informed through clear, consistent communication around production status, performance, process changes, expectations, and company policies.
  • Own final assembly readiness and quality, ensuring locomotives are prepared for internal and customer inspections, addressing root causes of defects, partnering with upstream teams on solutions, and driving overall readiness for shipment.

This posting outlines the primary responsibilities of the role, but is not all-inclusive; additional duties may be assigned in alignment with business needs.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience, including planning, launching, or supporting new production lines in complex, low-volume production environments such as rail, aerospace/aviation, naval, or heavy equipment manufacturing.
  • Experience within the rail industry, particularly light or heavy rail production, is highly valued.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP or comparable MRP/ERP systems used to manage manufacturing operations, materials, and production.
  • Proven ability to apply Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles, including 5S, waste reduction, root cause analysis, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, Yamazumi, and Lean Shop Floor Management.
  • Experience identifying root causes, improving processes, eliminating production inefficiencies, and implementing sustainable solutions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience supporting customer service, maintenance, or aftermarket operations, preferably within the rail or another complex industrial environment.
  • Experience developing or supporting automation and manufacturing technology roadmaps to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Certifications such as Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Certification, OSHA Safety, Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE), supply management certification, EIT, or Professional Engineer (PE) are a plus.
