What will you need to succeed?

Railways operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This shift-based position requires availability for evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.

  • Above-average computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft 365 environment and specialized software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly for radio communications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification as a Rail Traffic Controller under the Canadian Rail Operating Rules, including meeting medical requirements and completing drug and alcohol testing.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a time-critical environment.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
  • Previous experience in the railway industry, air traffic control, dispatching, shift work, or a similar environment is considered an asset.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English is required.

What will you do?

  • Ensure the safe movement of trains and on-track equipment.
  • Plan and schedule train movements.
  • Issue and communicate authorities governing train movements.
  • Coordinate train meets safely and efficiently.
  • Optimize rail network performance and resource use.
  • Record information accurately in traffic control systems.
  • Maintain current knowledge of operating rules, signals, and railway operations.
  • Enter required data and operational information accurately.
  • Help resolve issues within the assigned territory.
  • Deliver excellent customer service.

The successful candidate for this position must be fluent in French and English (oral and written) to perform the duties and responsibilities of the role.

    • The role requires interaction with French and/or English speaking customers and suppliers across Canada and/or abroad.
    • The role requires regular interaction with Siemens colleagues based in Quebec, Ontario, nationally and internationally.
