About the Role

Silicon Labs is looking for a Software Engineer in Test to play key role in planning, developing, debugging and automating test scripts. The primary objective is to enhance the overall quality of the SiSDK and Firmware product. Most of our customers are focused on building Internet of Things (IoT) products, ranging from smart homes to smart cities and smart metering.

As a member of the Budapest QA team, you will be tasked with ensuring comprehensive test coverage for Bluetooth Low Energy radio protocol features. You will be responsible for validating our embedded products using a Python-based automated test framework. You will frequently interact with the Software Development Team based in Budapest, Espoo (Finland), and other Software Quality Assurance (SQA) groups globally.

In this role, you will get to work with cutting-edge Silicon Labs Wireless products while ensuring that our products meet the requirement of the Bluetooth standards. Our Budapest SQA Team is responsible for validating our embedded products.

What You Will Do

• Take ownership of test planning, test strategy, and automation coverage for embedded wireless features.

• Design, develop, and maintain Python/Pytest-based automated tests for functional and non-functional testing.

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools, such as Cursor, as an integral part of daily engineering workflows to accelerate test development, debugging, code analysis, and automation.

• Automate, monitor, and improve test execution as part of continuous integration pipelines.

• Independently investigate complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with development teams to resolve defects.

• Work directly with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to communicate test results, progress, coverage gaps, and quality risks.

• Collaborate with application engineers to identify customer use cases and ensure appropriate test coverage.

• Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency, automation reliability, and overall product quality.

• Share technical knowledge and best practices with other team members.

Skills Needed

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in software testing, test automation, or software engineering.

• Strong proficiency in AI-assisted software development, with hands-on experience using tools such as Cursor or similar technologies to improve development efficiency, debugging, and test automation.

• Strong Python programming skills, including the ability to read, understand, debug, and maintain complex code, as well as critically review and validate AI-generated solutions.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently investigate complex technical issues, identify root causes, and drive solutions.

• Solid understanding of software testing methodologies, test design techniques, risk-based testing, and test coverage analysis.

• Hands-on experience in designing, developing, and maintaining automated test solutions.

• Experience with version control workflows and CI/CD pipelines.

• Ability to take ownership of technical challenges, work independently, and proactively drive improvements.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to proactively and independently engage with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to discuss technical issues, testing progress, and quality risks.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

We Consider the Following Experience a Plus

• Experience with embedded systems, firmware testing, or embedded C/C++ development.

• Knowledge of wireless communication protocols, particularly Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), or other IoT technologies.

• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and automated testing on physical devices.

• Experience in developing or improving test automation frameworks and test infrastructure.

• Experience in building AI-assisted workflows or introducing AI-driven improvements to engineering and testing processes.

• ISTQB certification.

Education

• BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.

The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between Ft10,907,750 - Ft20,257,250. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location where work will be performed and applicant’s skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus, equity package and a comprehensive benefits package.
