Job Summary :
We are seeking a Senior EDI Engineer with 10+ years of experience to lead the design, development, and optimization of our EDI and enterprise integration workflows. This role owns the translation of business requirements into robust, scalable integration designs, sets standards for quality and data security across the integration landscape, and serves as a technical mentor to other engineers. The ideal candidate combines deep EDI/X12 expertise with strong microservices and API development skills, and is comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Translate business requirement documents into high-level and detailed technical designs for integration and EDI workflows.
- Define and enforce QA standards, including unit testing practices, to ensure consistently high-quality delivery.
- Apply industry best practices for data security across all integration touchpoints.
- Establish and champion integration architecture patterns and best practices, guiding their implementation across our Integration Tools and technologies.
- Lead data analysis efforts to identify patterns, gaps, and anomalies within testing data streams.
- Partner with the QA team to monitor testing errors and workflows, driving down data-related go-live defects.
- Standardize data objects and workflow components to maximize reuse across integrations.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level integration engineers.
- Serve as a technical escalation point for complex integration and EDI issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (business, QA, and engineering teams) to align integration solutions with business goals.
- Core Technologies : EDI, XML, JSON, NoSQL, RDBMS, AMQP, FTP, SMTP, JQuery.
Required Qualifications :
- 10+ years of overall software development experience.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience with integration platforms such as MuleSoft, Boomi, or Azure Logic Apps or relevant.
- 6+ years of experience with EDI X12 ANSI specifications, including mapping and transaction set development.
- 5+ years designing and building microservice architectures and service-oriented APIs.
- 5+ years working with XML, XSLT, XPath, JSON, JSONPath, and JQ.
- 6+ years of experience with RDBMS technologies, preferably MySQL and SQL Server, including writing and executing advanced SQL statements.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Strong working knowledge of Java or another object-oriented programming language.
- Solid understanding of Agile software development practices.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex, ambiguous technical issues and drive them to resolution.
- Proven track record of mentoring engineers and leading technical design discussions.
- Self-driven, with a track record of delivering high-quality work within agreed timeframes.
- Strong team player who thrives in a fast-paced, start-up-style environment.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience with NoSQL data stores in high-volume integration contexts.
- Familiarity with message queuing/brokering technologies (e.g., AMQP-based systems).
- Prior experience establishing integration standards or centers of excellence.
- Experience presenting technical designs to non-technical business stakeholders.
