Head of Intelligence Engagements

Location: New York City (On-Site, 5 days)

Compensation: $180K-$220K base + meaningful early-stage equity + full benefits (100% employer-paid medical, plus dental and vision). Flexible for an exceptional candidate.

Reports To: CEO, CTO & COO

About the Client

We are a venture-backed technology company that helps large enterprises detect and prevent sophisticated fraud at scale. Our platform combines open-source intelligence, network analysis, and machine learning to surface what our customers cannot easily find on their own: individuals whose hidden online activity contradicts what they have reported, and the organized networks behind coordinated fraud schemes. Those networks look structurally similar to criminal or terrorist networks: interconnected nodes, leadership, accomplices, repeat patterns.

We have product-market fit, happy enterprise customers, and strong momentum. The work is real and the upside is in front of us.

About the Role

We are hiring our first Head of Intelligence to build, own, and be the commercial face of the investigative function at the core of our product.

You are the person our enterprise insurance customers meet and trust. When the head of special investigations at a multi-billion-dollar carrier wants to understand how we illuminate the fraud rings on their book, you are the person they sit across from. You own that relationship, you demonstrate and grow the value, and you translate deep investigative work into terms a business leader acts on.

Early on you are hands-on: standing up the function, leading the highest-stakes client engagements yourself, and partnering with engineering and data science to turn investigative tradecraft into systems that scale. Over the next twelve to eighteen months you hire and lead the team beneath you - including a VP of Intelligence who owns the deep tradecraft - while you remain the commercial, client-facing leader of the function and the intelligence pedigree our investors point to in the Series A.

This is a builder seat, and a commercial one. There is no existing playbook. The right person is energized by owning both the client relationship and the function behind it.

What This Role Is Not

  • Not a pure execution-only OSINT seat. The tradecraft is trainable and supported by a VP of Intelligence under you; the seat itself is commercial and client-facing.
  • Not a place for someone who needs a playbook handed to them.
  • Not a strategy-from-a-distance or chief-of-staff-style seat.
  • Not a quota-carrying sales role - but client-facing commercial experience is required, and you own the customer relationship.
  • Not for someone who only wants to be heads-down analytical with no client-facing role.

Responsibilities

  • Owning the enterprise client relationship post-contract: being the named face of our intelligence capability, demonstrating value, expanding accounts, and serving as the credibility behind the work
  • Leading the highest-stakes client engagements and investigations, and translating findings into outcomes clients act on (investigations, litigation support, decisions)
  • Hiring and building the intelligence team - including a VP of Intelligence who owns the deep tradecraft - and managing the budget that supports it
  • Partnering with our engineering and data science teams to translate investigative work into structured data signals, workflows, and product features
  • Identifying and onboarding off-the-shelf intelligence, analytic, and OSINT tools where they accelerate the work
  • Establishing the SOPs, quality standards, and documentation practices that let the function scale without losing rigor
  • Representing our intelligence capability to enterprise insurance customers: explaining methodology, demonstrating value, and being the trusted commercial face of the relationship
  • Showing up in Series A investor conversations as the intelligence leader behind the platform

Requirements

Must-Haves

  • Client-facing commercial track record (the bar). You have owned enterprise client or customer relationships and been the commercial face of your work - as a management consultant (engagement-manager level or above), a client-coverage banker, or in an equivalent client-facing commercial role. You are the person the customer trusts and the one who grows the relationship.
  • Bias for action. You build before there is a playbook. Give you intent and a deadline and you go. You have a track record of standing up something new, not just executing something that already existed.
  • A signal of supreme success on your resume. Top-tier academic background, distinguished service, or demonstrated excellence at a high-bar employer. When you describe what you have done, the room leans in.
  • Quantitative and analytical horsepower. You think in data and structures. If you do not come from an intelligence background, a quantitative degree - data science, economics, mathematics, or similar - tells us you can pick up the tradecraft fast.
  • Intelligence adjacency (valued, and trainable). Prior military, federal, or private-sector intelligence experience - especially targeting individuals and the networks around them - is a real plus. But the deep OSINT and investigative tradecraft is trainable and will be supported by a VP of Intelligence hired under you.
  • Hands-on to start. You will stand up the function and lead client delivery yourself before you build the team beneath you. Years of experience matter less than whether you are still willing to roll up your sleeves.
  • Technically conversational. You do not need to write code. You do need to sit with an engineer and articulate what an investigative workflow actually requires.
  • Five days a week on-site in NYC. Being in the room with the executive team and engineering is part of how this role works.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Management consulting (MBB or comparable) at engagement-manager level and above, or client-coverage banking - a demonstrated client-facing commercial track record
  • Former intelligence professional now in management consulting, banking, or NYC tech - strong pedigree, underused tradecraft, ready to build and to own client relationships
  • Distinguished military or federal intelligence background, especially targeting individuals or human networks (SOF intel, MI officer, federal HUMINT or financial-crimes)
  • Identity-graph, entity-resolution, or fraud / trust-and-safety experience at a major consumer-tech or data company (Meta, LinkedIn, Socure, and similar) - paired with client-facing commercial reps
  • Experience presenting to senior external audiences: enterprise customers, executive leadership, investors, or federal partners
  • Familiarity with commercial OSINT, intelligence, or analytic platforms (Palantir, Maltego, Babel Street, Recorded Future, Skopenow, etc.) - welcome but trainable; we will not gate on tools
  • Spanish, Portuguese, or other relevant language capability

Why This Role

  • Direct ownership of a core function at a venture-backed company with product-market fit and a clear path to Series A
  • A real seat at the table with the CEO, CTO, and COO from day one
  • A chance to define how investigative work scales through technology in a category that is wide open
  • The kind of role that compounds: own the client relationship and build the function today, lead the team tomorrow, become the named intelligence pedigree behind a category-defining platform
  • Meaningful early-stage equity in a company where the upside is in front of it
  • $180K to $220K base plus equity, 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision
