Skanska is a Swedish construction and project development group headquartered in Stockholm, building offices, homes, infrastructure and public facilities and developing commercial and residential property. Founded in 1887 as a concrete products maker and listed on Nasdaq Stockholm, it operates in the Nordic countries, other European markets such as the UK, Poland and the Czech Republic, and the United States. The openings on this record are mainly in its UK business, covering civil and section engineers, quantity surveyors, construction and project managers, facilities technicians for building services contracts and staff for HS2 and the A47 road scheme.

At Skanska, we’re shaping the way we live, work and connect. As one of the world’s largest construction and development companies, we work together with customers, communities and partners to shape a better society.

Our Infrastructure team brings design, build and refurbishment excellence to complex civil engineering projects nationwide - combining technical expertise with a passion for creating lasting value for people and places.

We are currently looking for a Senior Engineer who will be responsible for the technical and commercial delivery of drainage and civil infrastructure design projects for both external clients and Skanska’s internal delivery teams. You will develop robust, buildable and sustainable design solutions while providing technical leadership across the project lifecycle. As part of Skanska, you’ll also have the opportunity to support construction teams, influence buildability decisions and see your designs realised on major infrastructure developments, while delivering standalone consultancy commissions for a diverse client base.

As the Senior Engineer you will:

  • Develop and manage detailed drainage, SuDS and below-ground infrastructure designs for buildings, highways and public realms.

Lead work packages - programming, costing, proposals and delivery - while ensuring technical assurance of designs, drawings and reports.

  • Provide standalone consultancy services, collaborating with clients and stakeholders to achieve technical, environmental and planning goals.
  • Embed Health & Safety, Environmental and CDM Designer duties into projects, promoting safe, sustainable design practices.
  • Mentor and support junior staff, and advance digital engineering workflows

We are looking for:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and Chartered (ICE) or actively working towards chartership.
  • Proven drainage design experience (SuDS, attenuation, flow control, modelling, hydraulics and guidance compliance).
  • Infrastructure design experience (site-wide drainage, earthworks interfaces, public realm and related civil works).
  • Experience preparing SuDS strategies, planning submissions and drainage approvals (S104, S38, S106 and local/water-company processes).
  • Proficient with InfoDrainage, Civil 3D and BIM workflows, with strong communication skills.

What we offer:

  • 24/7 digital GP service for you and your family
  • Financial wellbeing and employee assistance
  • Professional development
  • Enhanced family benefits (including maternity, paternity, dependents and parental bereavement leave)
