Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/d)

Your mission

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs used across Smartbroker products.
• Take ownership of critical backend components throughout their full lifecycle - from design and implementation to operation and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and help evolve our microservices and domain-driven architectures.
• Ensure high code quality through automated testing, code reviews, and well-structured documentation.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, mobile teams, and DevOps to deliver end-to-end features.
• Proactively identify technical debt and performance bottlenecks and drive improvements.

Your profile

• Several years of professional experience as a backend engineer in a production environment.
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g. Java, Kotlin, or similar).
• Solid experience with RESTful APIs, event-driven systems, and relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Practical knowledge of cloud-native development, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
• A strong sense of ownership, reliability, and responsibility for production systems.
• Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams.
• Very good English and/or German skills.
