Smiths Group is a British engineering company founded in 1851 as a London watchmaker, and it has repeatedly reinvented itself, once supplying instruments for most British cars and aircraft before selling those businesses entirely. Today it operates in four areas: security screening equipment for airports and borders, seals and connectors for extreme industrial environments, non-destructive detection and inspection instruments, and specialist electrical connectors for aerospace and defence. Headquartered in London and listed there, it has been under investor pressure to break itself up on the argument that its divisions have little in common.

Every minute of every day, Smiths Detection’s threat detection and security screening technology helps to protect people and infrastructure, making the world a safer place.

Smiths Detection is a global leader in the development, manufacture and management of security and detection solutions designed to make the world a safer place. Our technology provides threat detection and screening solutions for customers in our key markets: aviation, ports and borders, defence, and urban security.

Our expertise spans 21 global offices, seven manufacturing sites and five R&D centres, with a global network of 3,500 dedicated colleagues contributing towards over 40 years at the frontline of advances in safety and security.

This results in careers built on variety and the opportunity to work on a range of state-of-the-art solutions, where you can develop your knowledge and experience every day.

Smiths Detection is entering an exciting new phase as an independent company, backed by private equity investor CVC. As we accelerate our transformation agenda across the business, we're looking for a talented Transformation Office Analyst to play a central role in how we track progress, drive performance, and support strategic decision-making.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of a high-profile transformation programme, partnering with senior leaders and helping deliver meaningful business change across a global organisation.

About the Role

As a Transformation Office Analyst, you'll provide the data, insights, reporting, and governance that enable successful transformation delivery. You'll turn complex operational and project data into actionable intelligence, helping leaders understand performance, identify risks, and make informed decisions.

You will become a trusted partner to transformation workstream leaders, creating visibility across initiatives and ensuring stakeholders have access to accurate, reliable, and meaningful information.

This role combines analytical rigour with business impact. You'll spend time understanding the detail behind the data while maintaining a clear focus on what matters most to the business.

What You'll Do

Transformation Data Management

  • Maintain transformation programme data as the organisation's single source of truth.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across initiatives.
  • Consolidate information from projects, functions, and workstreams.
  • Challenge data quality issues and drive improvements.

Reporting and Insight

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Create executive reporting, governance packs, and performance updates.
  • Translate programme data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Analyse trends, risks, dependencies, and opportunities.

Governance and Performance Tracking

  • Support governance processes across the transformation portfolio.
  • Maintain status reports, decision logs, and escalation records.
  • Monitor milestones, delivery performance, and benefit realisation.
  • Ensure reporting standards and governance requirements are consistently met.

Process Improvement and Automation

  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate reporting processes.
  • Leverage tools such as Shibumi, AI, and automation technologies.
  • Reduce manual effort and improve reporting efficiency.
  • Help build more effective ways of working across the Transformation Office.

Why Join Us?

This role offers the opportunity to:

  • Work directly with senior transformation leaders and executives.
  • Gain exposure to enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Influence business decisions through data and insight.
  • Help shape how transformation is managed and measured.
  • Develop expertise in transformation, governance, analytics, and business performance.
  • Join a business at a pivotal moment in its growth and evolution.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, highly analytical, and comfortable working with both data and stakeholders.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Advanced Excel, modelling, and data management skills.
  • Experience creating dashboards, reports, and management information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly and confidently.
  • Experience working in transformation, consulting, PMO, business intelligence, or another data-driven environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to challenge assumptions and identify issues within large datasets.
  • A proactive, adaptable approach in a fast-paced environment.

Experience with Power BI, Shibumi, portfolio management tools, automation solutions, or AI-enabled reporting is advantageous but not essential.
