Lead Cloud Architect

SOFICO is investing in the platform behind Miles. We are moving from a model where customers host Miles themselves to one where we run it for them, on SOFICO Cloud: standardized, single-tenant environments in Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Our customers are leasing companies, captive finance companies, and banks. The platform they move onto has to carry their operational demands and the regulatory obligations they work under. 

From our Ghent office, As a Cloud (Platform) Architect,  you’ll own the architecture and technical direction of SOFICO Cloud and the shared platform underneath Miles. You are the authority on platform infrastructure in two directions. Inside SOFICO, you set the direction our platform and product teams build towards. Outside, you explain and defend that architecture to customers, to their security and risk teams, and to their auditors. 

What you’ll do...

This is an architecture role with a customer-facing side. You own the answers to our customers' infrastructure questions: what we have built, why we built it that way, and what is coming next. 

• Own the target architecture and roadmap for SOFICO Cloud and the shared platform capabilities Miles product teams build on. You set the architectural direction on both Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. 

• Make a fleet of isolated, single-tenant customer environments run like one platform: upgrades that land the same way everywhere, drift you can see and control, observability you can trust, and a cost base that improves as we scale. 

• Make sure moving to SOFICO Cloud takes real work off our customers. The infrastructure, security, resilienceand continuity they hand over become ours to run properly. 

• Explain and defend the architecture of SOFICO Cloud to customers and to their security, riskand audit teams, and bring what you learn there back into the roadmap. 

• Define the runtime contract product teams design within: Kubernetes, networking, identity and access management, storage, databases, messaging, observability, and service-to-service communication. 

• Push platform and product engineering on the non-functionals: availability, scalability, performance, security, operability, recoverability, and cost. 

• Own platform architecture decisions end to end. That means reviews, trade-offs, exceptions, and decision records people can still rely on a year later. 

• Shape how environments are built and changed, through Infrastructure-as-Code, GitOpsand automation, so that a change to the fleet is repeatable and safe to audit. 

• Build platform architecture into a practice at SOFICO, with standards, a regular reviewrhythm, and better infrastructure thinking among the architects and engineers you work with. 

What you bring...

• Senior-level experience in platform and cloud architecture for an enterprise product. 
• A track recorddesigning and runningproductionSaaS or cloud-native platforms at scale. 

• The ability togetdecisions closed through influence. You carry the mandate for platform architecture, with a clear escalation path. 

• Credibility with regulated customers. You are comfortable in a room with a customer's security, riskand audit teams, and you can answer their questions about our architecture directly. 

• Confidenc esetting technical direction and standards across teams that don’treport to you, and the appetite to bring other architects and engineers along with you. 

• The judgement to sequence changewell. Our customers run their business on Miles, so platform change gets planned, communicated and delivered without disruption to them. 

Knowledge & Skills  

Must have : 

• Kubernetes and container platforms: AKS, workload architecture, cluster networking, storage, operators. 

• Solid Azure experience, plus the confidence to make architectural decisions on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. PriorOCI exposure is a plus. 

• Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps: Terraform, Ansible, FluxCD, Helm, Kustomize. 

• Running multi-customer platforms: tenant isolation, secretsmanagement, fleet-wide upgrades. 

• Security by design: identity and access management, secrets, certificates, network security, least privilege. 

• Observability and resilience at fleet scale: monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, capacity planning, high availability, disaster recovery. 

• The assurance context our customers work in: DORA, ISO 27001, audit rights, continuity and exit expectations. 

• Data and integration infrastructure: PostgreSQL, Oracle, Kafka, and the persistenceand streaming. 

• Secure connectivity between cloud and on-premiseor customer-hosted environments, sinceparts of Miles Enterprise run there. 

• Strong communicationand stakeholder management; you work directly with platform engineering, product, security, operations, and customers.
