About the role:

We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer (Backend focused) to help design, build, and operate scalable backend systems that support core business workflows and data-driven products.

This is a primarily backend-focused role (~70%), with a smaller front-end component (~30%) working within an HTML/HTMX-based stack. Deep front-end expertise is not required, but candidates should be comfortable picking up front-end development when needed.

The role combines hands-on development with ownership of critical services and collaboration across product, data, and operations teams. You will contribute to system architecture, code quality, reliability, and the continuous improvement of engineering practices.

You will work hands-on with technologies including Python, SQL, AWS, PostgreSQL/MySQL, Snowflake, Docker, Kubernetes, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and microservices architecture. The environment also includes data pipelines and orchestration technologies such as Apache Airflow.

Some of the main responsibilities for the role include:

• Design and implement reliable, scalable backend services and data pipelines.
• Develop and maintain backend applications primarily using Python and SQL.
• Drive engineering best practices around testing, code quality, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Improve system observability and participate in diagnosing and resolving production issues.
• Build and maintain data ingestion services using APIs and batch file processing.
• Modernize legacy workflows by replacing manual or spreadsheet-driven processes with automated and resilient systems.
• Develop internal dashboards and services that provide real-time operational and business visibility.
• Create automation to reduce manual investigation and enable self-service for internal stakeholders.
• Improve monitoring, alerting, and data quality checks across backend pipelines.
• Collaborate with product, analytics, and operations teams to align technical solutions with business needs.
• Contribute to technical direction, architecture decisions, and roadmap planning.
• Contribute to the application's front-end layer (~30% of the role) using technologies such as HTML, HTMX, Jinja templates, and Python-based rendering.

Job Skills/Requirements

• +90% English written and oral (at least B2-C1 level) with excellent communication skills.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with demonstrated proficiency in backend development.
• Strong backend engineering background with the ability to deliver pragmatic and iterative technical solutions.
• Comfortable operating in fast-moving environments while maintaining high engineering standards.
• Ability to independently own technical work and lead technical efforts across teams.
• Willingness to take ownership, learn from failures, and continuously improve systems and processes

Technical Skills:

Backend / Programming

• Strong proficiency in Python
• Strong proficiency in SQL
• Experience designing and developing production backend services

  Databases & Data

• Strong experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and/or MySQL, with PostgreSQL preferred
• Experience with Snowflake or a similar cloud data warehouse
• Experience working with data ingestion, processing, and data-driven applications

  Cloud

• Experience deploying and managing applications on AWS

  DevOps

• Experience with technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS CDK, or similar tools
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and production deployments

  Architecture

• Experience designing scalable, reliable, high-performance distributed systems
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture
• Strong API design experience, including REST APIs and/or GraphQL
• Knowledge of authentication, authorization, and secure service design
• Experience with unit and integration testing

  Front-End (Highly Desired)

• HTML
• HTMX
• Jinja templates
• Using Python for front-end/server-rendered application development

  Deep expertise in a traditional JavaScript frontend framework is not required.

Nice to have Skills (not required):

• Experience with Apache Airflow or another data pipeline/orchestration platform
• Experience with frontend frameworks or languages such as React, Next.js, Angular, or JavaScript
