Software Mind is seeking a detail-oriented QA Automation Engineer to join a growing QA team at one of our clients. In this role, you will work closely with developers, product managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the quality and reliability of software products - identifying issues, testing new features, and maintaining high standards across the platform.

About the Role

Our client is a fast-growing fintech platform. You will join as the third member of a two-person QA team, contributing to the full software development life cycle. The role requires working in the CT (Central Time) time zone.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for web applications.
  • Identify, document, and track bugs, ensuring they are resolved effectively.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and implement testing strategies.
  • Write and maintain end-to-end automated tests using Playwright or similar frameworks.
  • Use AI tools responsibly as an assistant - not a replacement - for human-authored and human-understood code.
  • Continuously improve QA processes, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging QA tools and industry trends.

Requirements:

  • +90% English written and oral (B2 level minimum) - strong communication is essential.
  • 2+ years of QA experience, including hands-on work with E2E automation frameworks (Playwright preferred; Cypress, Maestro, Appium, or Selenium also considered).
  • Ability to write and maintain automated tests with clean, readable structure.
  • Some coding experience in JavaScript, Ruby, Python, or similar - comfortable writing functions and structuring projects.
  • Experience working with GitHub or similar version control tools.
  • Strong communication skills: ability to write clear bug reports, reproduction steps, test cases, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience working on projects throughout the full software development life cycle.
  • Experience using JIRA or other bug tracking / project management tools.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Postman or API testing.
  • Familiarity with fintech or regulated software environments.
  • Experience working in small, agile QA teams.
