Sony Interactive Entertainment is the video game division of the Sony group, formed in 1993 to develop the original PlayStation and now headquartered in San Mateo, California rather than Tokyo. The business earns most of its revenue from software and network services rather than hardware, and its first-party titles are increasingly released on personal computers after a console exclusivity window.
