SUMMARY:
Mechanical Apprenticeship - x 2 (George)

To undergo practical training in mechanical engineering, maintenance, repairs, and the servicing of production machinery and equipment.

The Mechanical Apprentice will assist qualified artisans and maintenance personnel in ensuring that machinery operates safely, efficiently, and reliably within the production environment.
Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Maintenance and Repairs

• Assist with routine preventative maintenance and servicing of production machinery and equipment.
• Assist qualified artisans with the inspection, fault-finding, repair, and replacement of mechanical components.
• Learn to identify mechanical faults and report equipment abnormalities to the relevant supervisor.
• Assist with the dismantling, cleaning, repairing, assembling, and installation of mechanical components.
• Gain practical experience in working with bearings, shafts, gears, belts, chains, pulleys, pumps, motors, and pneumatic systems.
• Assist with machinery adjustments and alignment under supervision.

• Assist with maintaining production machinery used in food-packaging operations.
• Support maintenance teams during equipment breakdowns and scheduled maintenance activities.
• Help minimise machinery downtime by following maintenance instructions and reporting faults promptly.
• Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are kept clean, organised, and in good condition.

• Comply with all company health and safety policies, procedures, and applicable legal requirements.
• Always wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Follow machine isolation and lockout procedures as instructed by authorised personnel.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the workshop and production areas.
• Follow applicable hygiene and food-safety requirements when working in production areas.

Qualifications: Preferred Grade 12 but not essential Fluent in English and Afrikaans Technical N1\/N2 or N3 in a technical field Drivers Licence Competencies: Good Communication Attention to detail Technically minded Honest Sober Habits physically fit
