Space Ops is an Australian company founded in 2018. It provides satellite mission operations and ground segment services. The company supports small satellite operators from Adelaide.

About the Company

Founded in Hamilton in 2019, Space Ops Inc. is a technology development company on a mission to make money movement and online commerce faster, smarter, and more secure for everyone in Canada.

We started Space Ops with a simple belief: the software that runs finance and commerce should be as modern, fast, and intelligent as the people who depend on it. In just seven years, we've grown into a trusted engineering partner for 100+ Canadian businesses.

Today, the platforms and apps we build quietly serve more than 20 million Canadians - processing payments, powering storefronts, and protecting transactions around the clock. We build on the latest and greatest technology, and we've successfully woven AI and automation into everything we do.

Position Summary:

The Cyber Security Analyst is primarily responsible for the monitoring, detection, analysis, and response to cybersecurity threats affecting organizational systems, networks, identities, and cloud platforms.

This role focuses on hands-on security operations, incident response, vulnerability management, and continuous improvement of technical security controls to protect information assets and reduce cyber risk.

Knowledge of governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) activities - including industry frameworks and regulatory requirements - is considered a valuable asset (“nice to have”), supporting collaboration with audit, legal, and risk stakeholders when required, but not the primary focus of the role.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Monitor, investigate, and respond to cybersecurity alerts and incidents escalated through our SOCaaS/MDR provider and internal security tools.
  • Coordinate cybersecurity investigations, containment activities, and remediation efforts with our Security Operations Center (SOCaaS/MDR) provider while maintaining ownership of internal response activities and business risk decisions.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and work with IT teams to prioritize and remediate security findings.
  • Support cloud, endpoint, network, and identity security initiatives, including Entra ID, IAM/PAM, MFA, and least-privilege controls.
  • Analyze emerging threats and recommend improvements to strengthen the organization's security posture.
  • Participate in security reviews for projects, technology changes, and new solutions.
  • Protect customer information, payment-related systems, and business-critical services by identifying, assessing, and mitigating cybersecurity risks in a rapidly growing Fintech environment.
  • Support security awareness initiatives and contribute to audit and compliance activities as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • 3-5+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations, incident response, threat detection, vulnerability management, or related security disciplines.
  • Postsecondary education in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with SIEM, EDR/XDR, vulnerability management, and security monitoring solutions.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat analysis, and incident response methodologies.
  • Experience in Fintech, financial services, payment processing, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience working with AWS, Microsoft Defender, Azure, and Entra ID.
  • Familiarity with PCI DSS, SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST, PIPEDA, or related frameworks.
  • Security certifications such as Security+, SC-200, AZ-500, CISSP, or CISA.
  • Knowledge of cloud security, endpoint security, networking, and identity and access management concepts.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical security findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail with disciplined documentation habits.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across IT, security, and business teams.
  • Comfortable working independently while escalating appropriately based on risk and impact.

Compensation & Perks

  • $85,000 – $105,000 Annual Compensation
  • Annual Bonus
  • RRSP and DPSP
  • Health & Dental Benefits
  • Health & Wellness Spending Accounts
  • Perkopolis Staff Discount
  • On-Site Gym + Fitness Membership Concessions
  • Coffee Bar with Barista + Unlimited Snacks
  • Monthly Events, Friday Lunches & Daily Breakfast
  • Professional Growth & Development Opportunities
