Key Responsibilities

  • Handle day-to-day accounting operations (expense reviews, journal entries, reconciliations)
  • Take ownership of selected balance sheet accounts and ensure timely and accurate reconciliations
  • Ensure compliant and efficient processing of expense claims and vendor invoices
  • Take responsibility for specific areas of month-end and year-end closing
  • Maintain general ledger integrity and proper documentation
  • Manage corporate credit card program including reconciliation and policy compliance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Tokyo and regional finance teams
  • Contribute to finance projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Identify issues and proactively propose improvements in accounting processes
  • Perform other ad hoc tasks as required

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Nissho Bookkeeping Certification (Level 2 or above preferred)
  • CPA qualification is a plus

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in accounting or finance operations, including exposure to month-end close
  • Familiarity with internal control framework is preferred
  • Self-starter with a positive and collaborative attitude

Skills & Knowledge

Must-have

  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles (IFRS or JGAAP)
  • Business-level proficiency in English
  • Native-level proficiency in Japanese (reading, writing, and speaking)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Knowledge of Japanese consumption tax and withholding tax
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team

Nice-to-have

  • ERP experience (SAP or similar)
  • Expense systems (Concur etc.)
  • Experience with internal control/compliance environment
  • Strong analytical skills
