OpenStack Cloud Engineer

We’re looking for an OpenStack Cloud Engineer to help build, operate, and optimise the core services of a large-scale, sovereign cloud platform. You’ll work across Linux systems, cloud infrastructure, automation, and open-source components to ensure a secure, scalable, and highly available environment.

Freelance cooperation means project-based contracts, part-time or full-time options, and remote work.

Requirements:

• Hands-on production experience with OpenStack (especially Cinder and Nova)

• Strong programming skills in Python and/or Go

• Deep knowledge of Linux systems administration and cloud infrastructure

• Experience running Kubernetes in production

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, build management, and release processes

• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills

• OpenStack upstream contribution experience is a plus

• Good command of English (German is a plus)

Nice to have:

• Experienced in using AI tools in day-to-day workflow

Main responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain OpenStack Cinder block storage services.

• Develop and maintain OpenStack Nova compute services.

• Build and maintain automation workflows using Python and/or Go.

• Operate and administer Linux-based cloud infrastructure.

• Contribute patches and improvements to OpenStack upstream projects.

• Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing within the team.
