Senior Telecom Data Architect - BSS/OSS & Customer Data
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Telecom Data Architect to lead the design and delivery of complex telco data models across BSS, OSS, customer, product, service, and usage domains.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with telecommunications data architecture and modelling, including TM Forum SID, eTOM, 3GPP charging/CDR structures, BSS/OSS data, identity resolution, and customer data platforms.
This role will own the telco data model from source-system discovery through to canonical entities, data mappings, identity rules, and detailed implementation specifications. The successful candidate will also work directly with client stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into practical, implementable data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and define the end-to-end telco data model, covering source systems, canonical entities, relationships, attributes, and business definitions.
- Lead data discovery and requirements workshops with client stakeholders across business and technology teams.
- Map data from BSS and OSS source systems into a canonical data model.
- Define clear relationships between Party, Customer, Account, Subscriber, Service, Product, and Resource entities, including complex B2B, household, and family-plan scenarios.
- Design and document identity resolution rules, particularly around MSISDN, customer, subscriber, SIM, and account relationships.
- Address telecom-specific identity scenarios including number portability, SIM swaps, and number recycling.
- Work with telecom usage and charging data, including CDRs/xDRs, mediation, rating, charging, and billing structures.
- Develop detailed data mapping specifications, transformation rules, data definitions, and implementation-ready documentation.
- Collaborate with data engineering, architecture, product, BSS/OSS, and business teams to ensure the data model can be implemented effectively.
- Support the design and implementation of Customer Data Platforms (CDP), Single Customer View (SCV), and customer 360 solutions.
- Ensure data architecture aligns with relevant telecom standards and enterprise data governance requirements.
Required Experience & Skills
- 7+ years of professional experience in data architecture, data modelling, or data engineering within the telecommunications industry.
- Proven hands-on experience with telecom data models and BSS/OSS environments.
- Strong working knowledge of TM Forum SID and eTOM.
- Practical understanding of 3GPP charging and CDR/xDR structures.
- Strong understanding of telecom BSS/OSS domains, including:
- Product Catalog
- Order Management
- Mediation
- Rating & Charging
- Billing
- Collections
- Inventory
- Deep understanding of telecom customer and service entities, including Party, Customer, Account, Subscriber, Service, Product, and Resource.
- Hands-on experience with identity resolution and customer matching, including MSISDN-based identity scenarios.
- Strong SQL and data mapping skills.
- Experience designing canonical data models and translating source-system structures into business-ready data models.
- Ability to produce detailed, implementation-ready specifications, rather than high-level conceptual documentation only.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience facilitating requirements and data discovery workshops.
Preferred Experience
- Experience delivering a Customer Data Platform, Customer 360, or Single Customer View solution.
- Experience with consent management and data governance frameworks.
- Experience working directly with telecom clients and leading cross-functional data discovery workshops.
- Experience integrating data across multiple BSS, OSS, CRM, billing, charging, and network-related systems.
- Experience working in large-scale or multi-country telecommunications environments.
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field is preferred.
