State Street is an American financial institution founded in Boston in 1792 and one of the oldest banks in the United States, though its modern business bears little resemblance to retail banking. It is one of the three dominant global custodians, holding trillions of dollars of assets in safekeeping for institutional investors and providing the fund accounting, administration and settlement infrastructure that asset managers depend on. Its investment arm State Street Global Advisors created the first American exchange traded fund with the SPDR S&P 500 Trust and remains one of the largest index managers in the world.

Who we are looking for

Global Markets is seeking a Senior Product Designer to help shape the next generation of AI-enabled financial products and workflows. This role sits within the Global Markets Design team in London and will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, and senior business stakeholders to design complex enterprise platforms used across trading, liquidity, financing, research, analytics, and reporting. We are looking for a strategic designer who combines strong product thinking, systems thinking, and modern AI-assisted design practices to transform how financial professionals work and make decisions.

This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

What you will be responsible for

As a Senior Product Designer you will:

  • Lead end-to-end product design across strategic Global Markets initiatives.
  • Design AI-assisted workflows that improve productivity and decision quality.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to define future-state experiences.
  • Transform complex financial processes into intuitive user-centered solutions.
  • Create user journeys, workflows, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
  • Drive adoption of enterprise design systems and reusable patterns.
  • Establish design approaches for copilots, agents, and intelligent automation.
  • Use research, analytics, and feedback to validate and evolve solutions.
  • Contribute to design-to-code practices and modern product delivery models.
  • Mentor and support designers across the wider organization.
  • Influence product strategy through user-centered and business-focused thinking.

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role:

  • Strong systems thinking and ability to simplify complex workflows.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for AI-enabled product experiences.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively within ambiguity and evolving priorities.
  • Passion for innovation, continuous learning, and improving how teams work.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of product, UX, or enterprise software design experience.
  • Experience designing complex workflow-based applications.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating business impact and product thinking.
  • Expert proficiency with Figma and modern design tooling.
  • Experience working within Agile product development environments.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted design, generative AI, copilots, or agent-based experiences.
  • Financial services, capital markets, trading, or investment industry experience preferred.
