State Street is an American financial institution founded in Boston in 1792 and one of the oldest banks in the United States, though its modern business bears little resemblance to retail banking. It is one of the three dominant global custodians, holding trillions of dollars of assets in safekeeping for institutional investors and providing the fund accounting, administration and settlement infrastructure that asset managers depend on. The Strategic Partner Oversight (SPO) team within the division of the Chief Operating Officer of State Street Investment Management (IM) is a group of experienced professionals responsible for overseeing critical outsourced services that support our investment process. We are seeking an Assistant Vice President to focus on oversight of investment services that support the Transition Management team within our Chief Investment Officer division- monitoring and governing transition management services delivered by our middle-office provider. In this role, you will ensure that all aspects of portfolio management for transition events interim portfolio management are planned, risk-managed, and executed seamlessly across asset classes, with robust controls, timely issue escalation in adherence to agreed service standards.

What you will be responsible for:

As Transition Management Oversight AVP, you will:

  • Provide governance and oversight for all services supporting the transition management investment function provided by our strategic partner, establishing clear processes, controls, and review frameworks that ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. • Review key performance indicators (KPIs) and risk metrics (KRIs) for services supporting transition management activities. Analyze service reports and operational data to identify trends, control gaps, or service issues, raising improvement initiatives and ensuring provider accountability to high performance standards.

  • Lead regular governance meetings (e.g. monthly service reviews) with the service provider, relevant internal stakeholders, and the Middle Office provider client service teams. In these forums, track outstanding issues or incidents, and drive continuous service improvements in collaboration with the provider.

  • Manage risk and escalation processes. Document and track service issues, enforce timely escalation and resolution by the provider, and implement controls to mitigate future occurrences. You will provide clear, proactive communication to senior management about any material issues or risks arising during transition events.

  • Facilitate change and service enhancements by partnering with internal teams (e.g. Investment Operations, Portfolio Management, Compliance, Technology) and the external provider to refine transition processes, implement new regulatory or business requirements, and optimize the end-to-end operating model for transitions.

  • Investment operations expertise - Strong understanding of the end-to-end investment lifecycle and middle-office processes (trading, settlements, corporate actions, etc.) across multiple asset classes, including an appreciation for the risks and service requirements of portfolio transitions.

  • Accountability and ownership - A hands-on, responsible approach to oversight, taking initiative to own tasks and follow through on issue resolution and service improvements.

  • At least seven years of relevant industry experience in investment operations, transition management, middle-office oversight or similar roles within asset management or financial services. Familiarity with outsourced service models and governance is highly beneficial.
