The Opportunity-
The Cross-Border Procurement and Pricing Manager at Steam Logistics is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies for cross-border transportation between the U.S. and Mexico. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with company objectives, and ensure compliance with relevant laws & regulations.
Overall, this role involves overseeing the procurement and pricing aspects of cross-border logistics operations. The goal is to maximize efficiency and profitability while maintaining competitiveness in the market.
Responsibilities-
- Develop a carrier network to handle direct shipments to or from Mexico.
- Develop carrier relationships to effectively support customers.
- Has daily contact with carriers to determine availability and negotiate transportation rates.
- Maintains and grows relationships with carrier accounts.
- Negotiate Rates with current providers while making sure we continue providing/receiving the same expected service.
- Research new carriers within the market, generates leads, and develops new carrier relationships.
- Serve as initial point of contact for agents and Mexican carrier partner.
Required Experience & Education-
- Understands cross-border market trends and Mexico regulations.
- 3-5 years of experience in cross-border freight operations between the U.S. and Mexico.
- Solid analytical experience in Excel required.
- Experience dealing with carriers and customs processes in these border crossing markets:
- Laredo/Nuevo Laredo-Colombia
- San Diego/Tijuana-Mexicali
- Nogales
- El Paso/Ciudad Juarez
- McAllen-Brownsville-Pharr/Reynosa
- Experience with Cargowise preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Qualifications & Skills-
- Bilingual: Must be fluent in Spanish & English (reading, writing and verbal)
- Ability to work in an office setting, multi-task, and work with a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills
- Strong analysis and mathematical skills for project development and solutions design.
- Ability to make decisions and work with deadlines under pressure.
- Ability to motivate, negotiate, influence, and build strong relationship with others.
