Responsibilities

Position Purpose: We are looking for a Test Lead to own and drive the quality engineering strategy for the NeXus program. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: you will assess current testing maturity, define and implement a scalable target-state test architecture, and align testing with modern software development practices to enable faster, safer, and more independent service delivery.

Primary duties will include:

Strategy & architecture

• Assess current test maturity across technology, tooling, automation, standards, governance, and delivery practices.
• Analyze existing QA and testing processes and identify bottlenecks, risks, and inefficiencies.
• Define and implement a target-state test architecture aligned with engineering and business goals.
• Define service-level test strategy covering UI, API, integration, contract, regression, visual, and non-functional testing.

Engineering practice & delivery

• Align testing practices with software development standards, SDLC workflows, and CI/CD delivery models.
• Lead tool and language unification where it improves consistency, maintainability, speed, and cost efficiency.
• Drive shift-left adoption by embedding quality earlier in refinement, design, and development.
• Improve local and CI feedback loops to support rapid daily development of independently deployable services.
• Establish testing standards and guardrails for framework design, selectors, page objects, components, mocking, test data, and reporting.
• Improve determinism and reliability of automated tests, including strategies for real-time and event-driven systems.

Leadership & governance

• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and code/design review for QA engineers across teams - setting the standard for automation quality.
• Own the test framework roadmap and contribution model, ensuring changes are reviewed, versioned, and rolled out safely.
• Introduce or improve quality metrics, dashboards, and traceability across coverage, regression health, defect leakage, and release readiness.
• Partner with Engineering, QA, DevOps, Product, and Architecture stakeholders to execute the quality transformation roadmap.
• Represent quality in release readiness decisions and escalate risk with clear, evidence-based reasoning.

Qualifications

To land this role you will need:

• Proven experience as a Test Lead, QA Lead, Principal/Lead QA Engineer, or senior quality engineering leader in a complex product or platform environment.
• Strong hands-on experience designing test automation architecture and strategy across UI, API, integration, contract, and regression testing.
• Experience building and governing scalable test frameworks, standards, reusable patterns, and best practices across multiple teams.
• Experience leading, mentoring, and technically directing QA engineers - without necessarily holding line-management responsibility.
• Deep understanding of CI/CD integration, release readiness, quality gates, and feedback-loop optimization, with a strong shift-left mindset.
• Experience improving automation reliability through deterministic test design, mocking, flaky test reduction, and stable regression execution.
• Strong understanding of test reporting, quality metrics, traceability, and service-level test strategies for independently deployable systems.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.

What makes you stand out:

• Experience with modern test tooling such as Playwright, Selenium, Vitest/Jest, REST API tools, Pact/Zod/OpenAPI, and visual regression testing.
• Experience testing real-time, event-driven, or authentication-heavy systems, including WebSocket/streaming and SSO/Okta/token-based flows.
• Experience integrating automation with enterprise delivery and reporting tools such as TestRail, Allure, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, TeamCity, or Octopus.
• Experience across multiple technology stacks, especially TypeScript/Node.js and/or C#/.NET, plus exposure to performance testing tools such as k6, NBomber, or JMeter.
• Experience defining standards for AI-assisted development and testing tooling in an enterprise context.
• Experience in financial services, trading, brokerage, or other regulated environments.
• Relevant certifications such as ISTQB or equivalent practical expertise.

Education / Certification Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology.
