Responsibilities

Position Purpose: StoneX is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join the Global Network Operations team. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, supporting, and continuously improving the firm's global network infrastructure across offices, data centers, cloud environments, and trading platforms.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong technical expertise, excellent troubleshooting skills, and experience delivering complex infrastructure projects in a fast-paced enterprise environment. This individual will work closely with Network Architects, Security, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure a highly available, secure, and scalable global network.

Primary duties will include:

Network Engineering and Operations

• Design, implement, maintain, and support enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, SD-WAN, and data center networking environments.
• Support global connectivity across corporate offices, cloud platforms, trading environments, data centers, and third-party providers.
• Provide daily operational support, monitoring, administration, and troubleshooting to maximize network availability and performance.
• Monitor network capacity and performance while proactively identifying opportunities for optimization, resiliency, and improvement.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues using packet captures, logs, telemetry, and network monitoring platforms.
• Perform complex network migrations, upgrades, hardware refreshes, and new technology deployments with minimal business impact.
• Resolve incidents, problems, and change requests in accordance with service-level agreements and approved maintenance windows.
• Participate in major incident response and lead technical troubleshooting efforts when required.
• Produce clear Root Cause Analysis documentation following significant network incidents and outages.

Infrastructure Projects and Technical Leadership

• Lead and execute global network infrastructure projects from planning and design through implementation and operational handoff.
• Design resilient, secure, scalable, and fault-tolerant networking solutions aligned with business growth and technology standards.
• Collaborate with Network Architects, Cloud, Security, Infrastructure, Application, and business teams during project delivery.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations for network standards, roadmaps, and future improvements.
• Provide technical leadership during projects, maintenance activities, and major incidents.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.
• Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, carriers, and technical partners.

Cloud and Network Security

• Support hybrid networking across Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services environments.
• Configure and maintain secure connectivity between cloud platforms, data centers, offices, and external partners.
• Support enterprise firewall environments, including Palo Alto Networks technologies.
• Support F5 application delivery and load-balancing platforms.
• Implement and maintain network segmentation, routing policies, VPN connectivity, network access control, and security best practices.
• Work closely with Cyber Security teams to ensure alignment with enterprise security requirements and controls.

Automation, Documentation, and Continuous Improvement

• Develop automation to improve operational efficiency using Python, Ansible, Terraform, APIs, or similar tools.
• Reduce repetitive operational tasks through scripting, orchestration, and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, standards, procedures, and operational runbooks.
• Ensure network inventories, configuration records, monitoring systems, and internal platforms contain current information.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the Global Network Operations organization.
• Research relevant industry trends, standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to the firm.

Qualifications

To land this role you will need:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience and certifications.
• 8+ years of enterprise network engineering and operational support experience.
• Strong experience supporting large-scale, highly available, and mission-critical global network environments.
• Experience building and managing relationships with senior technical customers and stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding, and globally distributed environment.
• Solid organizational skills, strong work ethic, attention to detail, and accountability for assigned work.

Required Technical Experience

Routing, Switching, and Connectivity

• Extensive experience with BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VRF, QoS, Policy-Based Routing, HSRP, STP, and related enterprise routing and switching technologies.
• Experience supporting Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching platforms; experience with Arista switching is highly desirable.
• Experience configuring and maintaining Cisco ISE and 802.1X in an enterprise environment.
• Experience supporting enterprise WAN, Internet, point-to-point, carrier, and data center connectivity.
• Desirable experience supporting multicast technologies, including IGMP and PIM.

Security, Application Delivery, Cloud, and Wireless

• 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise firewall platforms, preferably Palo Alto Networks.
• 5+ years of experience supporting F5 BIG-IP load balancers and application delivery services.
• 3+ years of experience supporting cloud networking in Microsoft Azure and/or AWS, including hybrid connectivity.
• Operational experience with SD-WAN solutions, preferably Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN or similar enterprise platforms.
• Desirable operational experience with Cisco Meraki and enterprise wireless networking.
• Experience with DNS, DHCP, IPAM, VPN technologies, segmentation, and network security controls.

Automation and Operational Practices

• Experience with Python, Ansible, Terraform, REST APIs, Git, or comparable automation and orchestration technologies.
• Strong proficiency with packet capture and protocol analysis tools.
• Experience with network monitoring, logging, alerting, capacity planning, change management, incident response, and disaster recovery processes.
• Ability to develop professional network diagrams and technical documentation.

• Dynamic and time-sensitive environment that may require participation in planned maintenance, after-hours changes, and incident response.
