The Associate Communications Manager collaborates with team members, leadership and cross-functional partners to execute employee communication plans that reflect Stryker’s culture, business priorities and employee needs. This individual plays a hands-on role in drafting content, coordinating communication logistics and helping manage core internal communication channels - such as email, the intranet, leadership messaging platforms and enterprise-wide events (e.g., town halls) to ensure content is timely, clear and relevant for diverse employee audiences. This role is based in Mahwah, NJ and offers a hybrid work environment, with an expectation to work onsite 1-2 days per week.
What you will do:
Employee communication and campaign support
Support the execution of employee communication plans aligned with Stryker’s culture and business priorities
Draft and edit clear, engaging content for employee channels such as email, intranet and employee messaging platforms
Assist in developing materials for executive communications, town halls and company-wide announcements
Coordinate logistics for internal communication campaigns and events
Help maintain and update content across communication channels, ensuring consistency and accuracy
Adapt content to meet the needs of varied employee groups, including frontline, hybrid and remote employees
Apply brand and editorial guidelines in all content creation
Contribute to tracking and maintaining content calendars and communication deliverables
Audience awareness and segmentation
Maintain working knowledge of employee audience types and communication preferences
Adapt writing tone, timing and channel use based on employee group needs
Help collect and review employee feedback through surveys, pulse checks and other tools
Assist with basic data gathering and insight-sharing with team members to improve message targeting
Support inclusive and accessible communications that reflect Stryker’s diverse global workforce
Copywriting and content development
Write and proofread content such as emails, articles, newsletters and announcements
Collaborate with team members, subject matter experts and designers to ensure message clarity and impact
Ensure accuracy, brand alignment and tone consistency across content
Assist in maintaining internal templates and contribute to content planning documentation
Creativity and storytelling
Contribute creative ideas to content planning and team brainstorming sessions
Help develop employee-focused stories that reflect Stryker’s culture and values
Assist with content formatting or visual elements in collaboration with design partners
Support experimentation with new communication formats or tools to improve engagement
Brand alignment and communication guidelines
Ensure communications follow Stryker’s brand voice and visual identity
Use templates, toolkits and editorial style guides to create and review internal content
Help maintain resources like messaging libraries and internal communication toolkits
Engagement measurement and continuous improvement
Assist in gathering communication metrics (e.g., email open rates, page views, feedback trends)
Help compile reports and share basic insights with the team
Support the use of data and feedback to improve message clarity and relevance
Collaboration and team support
Collaborate with team members and internal partners on communication campaigns and initiatives
Provide logistical and editorial support for projects involving external vendors or consultants
Participate in team meetings and contribute to shared goals and planning discussions
Change support and organizational communications
Assist with internal messaging around enterprise-wide or department-specific change initiatives
Support rollout and communication around new tools, policies or programs
Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive team environment
What you need:
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
Minimum 6 years of professional experience, including experience in internal communications, employee communications, corporate communications, or organizational communications.
Experience developing and executing communication strategies and plans for complex business initiatives, organizational priorities, or enterprise-wide programs.
Experience developing, writing, editing, and proofreading employee-facing communications, including executive/leadership messaging, emails, intranet content, newsletters, announcements, presentations, or town hall materials.
Experience partnering with senior leaders, HR, business development, or cross-functional stakeholders to translate complex business information into clear employee communications.
Experience managing multiple internal communication channels, such as intranet, email, newsletters, employee communication platforms, or digital signage.
Experience using communication metrics, analytics, or employee feedback to evaluate effectiveness and improve communication strategies.
Preferred
Experience developing and executing M&A integration communication strategies, including, integration milestones, organizational announcements, leadership messaging, and employee engagement.
Experience supporting organizational change or business transformation communications, including changes to organizational structures, systems, processes, policies, or operating models.
Experience developing executive communications including leadership messaging, talking points, presentations, town halls, FAQs, or enterprise-wide announcements.
Experience developing communication strategies for diverse or segmented employee audiences, including frontline, field-based, hybrid, remote, or global employees.
Experience developing or managing editorial calendars, communication toolkits, messaging frameworks, templates, brand standards, or communication governance.
