Team description

Global Fraud Prevention protects SumUp's banking products, from issued cards to cash in and cash out flows, keeping millions of merchants and consumers safe from financial crime. This role plays a key part in building stronger fraud observability and smarter decisioning for fast growing card issuing and banking volumes across the globe. Complex fraud data gets turned into practical controls here, working closely with fraud operations, data science, product, and engineering teams, as well as card payment networks, to stay ahead of evolving fraud patterns and comply with regulatory requirements in 38 active Sumup markets.

What you'll do

  • Build and maintain fraud observability dashboards covering issued card, cash in, and cash out flows across merchant and consumer banking products
  • Configure and refine decision engine rules to catch fraud early without adding unnecessary friction for genuine customers
  • Investigate fraud anomalies and turn findings into clear, actionable recommendations for fraud operations and engineering teams
  • Partner with data science and engineering teams to improve risk logic and explore new data sources and automation opportunities
  • Translate PSD2, the upcoming PSD3, card scheme and other regulatory requirements into practical, workable controls
  • Share regular fraud performance updates with stakeholders across risk, compliance, and leadership

You'll be great for this role if

  • Advanced SQL skills for querying and manipulating large datasets
  • Experience configuring fraud decision engines or systems based on rules
  • Strong grounding in applied statistics and modelling, including A/B testing, classification, and regression
  • Proactive in shaping structure and processes within a fast changing, ambiguous environment
  • Knowledge of EU banking fraud schemes, card network rules, and PSD2
  • Fluency in English, spoken and written
