We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Substation Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and completion of substation projects from initiation through commissioning. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing scope, schedule, budget, permitting, procurement, and contractor coordination to deliver high-quality substation infrastructure for utility-scale power systems, including renewable energy interconnections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all phases of substation projects, from engineering design through construction and energization.

  • Oversee project timelines, deliverables, and budgets to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.

  • Coordinate with internal departments (engineering, procurement, operations) and external partners (utilities, contractors, consultants).

  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards (IEEE, NESC), and safety regulations.

  • Interface with regulatory agencies, utilities, and permitting bodies as needed to support project development and execution.

  • Track project milestones and generate status reports for leadership and stakeholders.

  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Lead weekly project meetings and facilitate collaboration between stakeholders and vendors.

  • Support procurement of major equipment (transformers, breakers, relays, SCADA) and ensure timely delivery.

  • Identify project risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of project management experience, preferably in substation or power infrastructure.

  • Working knowledge of substation components (HV equipment, protection & control, grounding, etc.).

  • Familiarity with permitting, environmental compliance, and utility interconnection processes.

  • Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera, Procore) and Excel.

  • PMP certification is a plus.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with renewable energy interconnections (solar, wind, BESS).

  • EPC or utility project delivery experience.

  • Understanding of SCADA, protection schemes, and relay coordination.
