ABOUT THE ROLE
FOX Corporation is looking for an experienced Director, Living Roomto lead our Living Room engineering organization responsible for building high-quality, scalable, and reliable Connected TV (CTV) applications across multiple platforms including Apple tvOS, Android TV, Fire TV, Roku, and other emerging devices. You will be responsible for defining the engineering strategy, building and scaling high-performing teams, and driving technical excellence across FOX's Living Room ecosystem.
Our Living Room engineering organization is responsible for delivering premium streaming experiences that reach millions of viewers across Connected TV devices worldwide. We leverage modern technologies, cloud-native services, and platform-specific capabilities to build intuitive, high-performance applications that provide a seamless viewing experience. With a strong emphasis on engineering excellence, scalability, video playback performance, and platform consistency, the team continuously evolves FOX's Living Room platforms to support future business growth and innovation.
As the Director, Living Room, you will provide strategic and technical leadership across multiple engineering teams responsible for developing and maintaining FOX's Connected TV applications. You will partner closely with Product, Design, Architecture, Backend Engineering, Data, QA, DevOps, and executive leadership to define the technology roadmap, deliver strategic initiatives, and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and grow multiple Living Room engineering teams responsible for applications across Apple tvOS, Android TV, Fire TV and Roku.
Define and execute the engineering strategy and multi-year technology roadmap for FOX's Living Room platforms.
Drive architectural decisions that improve platform scalability, application performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.
Establish engineering best practices for software architecture, code quality, testing, CI/CD, release management, observability, and operational excellence.
Partner closely with Product, UX Design, Backend Engineering, Data, QA, DevOps, and Platform teams to deliver strategic business initiatives.
Lead organizational planning including hiring, talent development, succession planning, performance management, and team growth.
Mentor Engineering Managers and Senior Technical Leaders while building future engineering leadership within the organization.
Balance feature delivery with long-term platform investments, modernization initiatives, and technical debt reduction.
Drive platform consistency and engineering standards across multiple Connected TV ecosystems.
Monitor engineering health, delivery metrics, operational performance, and customer experience across all Living Room products.
Champion engineering innovation by evaluating new technologies, frameworks, and platform capabilities.
Collaborate with executive leadership to align engineering investments with FOX's Digital Product strategy.
Communicate engineering strategy, project status, risks, trade-offs, and business outcomes to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
Build strong cross-functional partnerships to improve execution, quality, and organizational effectiveness.
Foster an inclusive engineering culture focused on innovation, accountability, collaboration, customer experience, and continuous improvement.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading multiple engineering teams or organizations.
Extensive experience building and delivering Connected TV (CTV), OTT, or consumer streaming applications at scale.
Strong understanding of one or more Living Room platforms including Apple tvOS, Android TV, Fire TV, Roku
Experience designing scalable, highly available, cloud-native distributed systems supporting millions of users.
Proven experience leading Engineering Managers, Staff Engineers, and Senior Technical Leaders.
Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, CI/CD, observability, application security, and performance optimization.
Demonstrated success leading organizational growth, hiring, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
Experience managing complex engineering programs involving multiple cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Strong business acumen with the ability to align engineering strategy with organizational priorities.
Excellent communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.
NICE TO HAVE
Experience delivering applications across multiple Connected TV platforms within a single engineering organization.
Experience with video streaming technologies including HLS, MPEG-DASH, DRM (Widevine, FairPlay, PlayReady), and adaptive bitrate streaming.
Knowledge of CDN technologies, media delivery architectures, and video playback optimization.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and modern DevOps practices.
Familiarity with analytics, monitoring, and observability platforms such as Conviva, Datadog, New Relic, Grafana, or Splunk.
Experience leading globally distributed engineering organizations.
Passion for media, entertainment, sports, and consumer digital products.
