Sr. Software Engineer (Python/React)

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Python/React) for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in LATAM. Our client is the real-time government analytics software, data, and media company platform.

You will join a team dedicated to creating impactful “aha moments” that quickly engage users, with a broader focus on problem validation and on evaluating experimental technologies, including Generative AI and LLMs, for future growth. The role includes delivering projects end to end, mentoring other engineers, providing technical guidance, and performing code reviews.

The client’s technology organization drives the vision and strategy behind its data and application products and productivity solutions, which empower thousands of customers, content creators, and professional service teams globally.

Requirements

• 5+ years of applied experience (or equivalent) in the software development industry using a modern tech stack (e.g., Python/FastAPI, React/Next.js).
• Working knowledge of production and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux/Unix, Bash, nginx).
• Familiarity with common storage implementations (primarily MongoDB, but also Postgres, Elasticsearch, Redis, etc.).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated experience building successful working relationships with Product and UI/UX teams.
• Experience working on projects from inception to completion.
• Comfort presenting to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Technical curiosity and a willingness to learn and try new technologies.

Will be a plus

• Architecture design and production decision-making experience.
• Familiarity with Generative AI and LLM technologies and concepts.

Responsibilities

• Build web application functionality in Python/FastAPI and React/Next.js.
• Design and contribute to high-compute, high-volume data pipelines, working across the data flow from ingestion and scraping to data engineering, ML, and search, and finding ways to validate and optimize the data.
• Integrate data and functionality across multiple software solutions, finding synergies and opportunities across existing products and building new global services.
• Push the limits of search by helping users get not only the information they are looking for, but also the context of why it matters.
• Work with and integrate the latest Generative AI and LLM technologies.
• Work across teams to ensure cohesion and collaboration across R&D functions (Engineering, Product, QA, Data, etc.).
• Write high-quality, well-documented, and reusable code.
• Deliver projects end to end, provide technical guidance, and perform code reviews.
• Mentor other engineers on software development best practices.
• Create world-class experiences for demanding end users.
• Respond to QA, client success, and customer support requests to provide excellent customer service.
