Software Engineer - Customer Identity & Authentication Platform

This is a senior hands-on engineering leadership role focused on building and operating secure, scalable identity and authentication capabilities for customer-facing digital products. You will lead a team of engineers, set engineering standards and drive CI/CD, automation and DevSecOps practices while remaining actively involved in design and coding. The role also involves shaping how identity supports emerging AI agent and non-human identity use cases.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and support of secure, scalable and high-performing applications, including hands-on coding and code reviews
• Define and implement engineering standards, patterns and development best practices across the team
• Drive adoption of modern CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, security controls and release automation
• Provide technical leadership on PING ID, Java, JavaScript, APIs, Docker, Google Cloud and secure coding
• Mentor and coach engineers through feedback, performance management and development planning
• Collaborate with product owners, solution architects, security, platform and QA teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Ensure solutions comply with enterprise security, risk, governance and regulatory requirements
• Champion DevSecOps, observability and reliability engineering practices
• Balance technical quality and operational stability with delivery commitments and business outcomes

Requirements

• 8 to 18 years of professional software engineering experience, including building production services or distributed systems
• Strong proficiency in Java and JavaScript, with experience on Google Cloud, Docker and Kubernetes
• Hands-on experience with PING ID or comparable identity platforms
• Solid understanding of authentication, authorization and identity management, including OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, integration contracts and domain models
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
• Ability to use AI engineering tools to accelerate development while applying sound engineering judgement
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and people leadership skills
• Desirable: experience with AI agent identity, non-human identity, MCP or agent integration concepts, and international team collaboration
