Synopsys (NASDAQ: SNPS) is a premier American multinational technology corporation and the global leader in Electronic Design Automation (EDA), semiconductor intellectual property (IP), and software security and quality solutions. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, and led by CEO Sassine Ghazi, Synopsys operates on a B2B enterprise software, proprietary semiconductor IP licensing, and silicon engineering services model.

Job Description and Requirements

We Are Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You have spent years in the lab, hands on the equipment, chasing down signal integrity issues that only show up at 56 Gbps and disappear when you change the probe. You know the difference between a measurement artifact and a real problem, and you have learned not to trust a passing compliance test until you have seen it pass three times under different conditions.

Debugging is where you come alive. When a PCIe link trains at Gen4 but fails at Gen5, you do not throw your hands up, you grab the oscilloscope, check the equalization settings, swap the cable, and methodically work through the stack until you find it. You have probably fixed more issues by staring at eye diagrams than most people have by reading datasheets.

Working with analog and digital designers does not intimidate you. You speak their language well enough to explain why the PLL is locking inconsistently, and you are comfortable pushing back when a test plan does not actually cover the corner case that failed last time. Scripting is a tool, not a burden. You automate the repetitive stuff so you can spend time on the problems that actually matter.

At Synopsys, you will validate SerDes IP that goes into products millions of people depend on, and the lab work you do here will directly shape what ships.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Validate post-silicon SerDes IP products including PCIe Gen5/Gen6 and Ethernet across multiple process nodes and customer configurations
  • Run compliance testing using PCIe official test specs, capture and analyze signal integrity measurements, and debug failures down to root cause
  • Develop and maintain test automation scripts in Python, MATLAB, and C/C++ to drive lab equipment and process measurement data at scale
  • Work directly with BERTs, VNAs, high-speed oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers to characterize analog performance of multi-gigabit serial links
  • Collaborate with analog designers, digital designers, and applications engineers to reproduce customer-reported issues and validate design fixes in silicon
  • Document test results, create characterization reports, and present findings to cross-functional teams and customers
  • Support FPGA-based prototyping and early bring-up activities when new IP variants are being validated before tapeout

The Impact You Will Have

  • Enable Synopsys customers to ship products faster by catching and resolving SerDes issues before they reach production
  • Improve IP quality and reduce customer support burden by identifying design weaknesses during validation that would otherwise surface in the field
  • Build reusable test frameworks and automation that accelerate validation cycles for future SerDes generations
  • Provide critical feedback to design teams that directly influences next-generation IP architecture and performance improvements
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards like PCIe and Ethernet, protecting Synopsys reputation and customer trust
  • Reduce time to market for high-speed interface IP by streamlining post-silicon validation workflows
  • Contribute to the success of products powering AI infrastructure, data centers, automotive systems, and consumer electronics worldwide

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, VLSI, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 3+ years of post-silicon validation experience, specifically analog validation of high-speed serial interfaces
  • Demonstrated experience with PCIe compliance testing and signal integrity measurements on live silicon
  • Working knowledge of high-speed protocols such as PCIe, Ethernet, USB, or JESD204, including hands-on bring-up and debug
  • Proficiency with lab equipment including BERTs, VNAs, high-speed oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers, and a solid understanding of what each tool actually measures
  • Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, and C/C++ for test automation and data analysis
  • FPGA prototyping experience is a significant plus and will set you apart

Who You Are

  • You can look at a noisy eye diagram and know within two minutes whether it is a crosstalk issue, a power supply problem, or bad equalization settings
  • You do not need someone to tell you what to test next, you look at the failure mode, form a hypothesis, and design the experiment that will prove or disprove it
  • When a test fails intermittently, you do not rerun it hoping it passes, you dig in until you understand why it is intermittent in the first place
  • You are comfortable explaining a complex signal integrity issue to an analog designer in their language and then translating the same issue for a software engineer who needs to understand the system impact
  • You keep your lab setup organized and your scripts documented because you know that six months from now, someone else (or you) will need to reproduce your results
  • You are the person who actually reads the PCIe spec when something does not make sense, not just the summary slides

The Team You'll Be Part Of

You will join the SerDes IP validation team within Synopsys Silicon IP business unit. This is a cross-functional team working closely with analog designers, digital designers, and applications engineers across global sites. The team is responsible for post-silicon validation of high-speed interface IP products that are integrated into customer SoCs across automotive, data center, AI, and consumer markets. Your work will directly support product releases and customer engagements, and you will have visibility into how the IP you validate performs in real-world applications.

Rewards and Benefits

We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.

At Synopsys, we want talented people of every background to feel valued and supported to do their best work. Synopsys considers all applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, military veteran status, or disability.
