Role Overview:

We are seeking an Application Security Engineer with a strong software development background combined with cybersecurity and application security expertise. The ideal candidate will work closely with development and engineering teams to define application security strategy, identify vulnerabilities early, and reduce security risk throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement Application Security (AppSec) strategy and security best practices.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate security risks within applications and APIs.
• Conduct or support secure code reviews, threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and application security testing.
• Work directly with developers to remediate security vulnerabilities.
• Integrate security controls into the SDLC/DevSecOps process.
• Evaluate application architecture from a security perspective and recommend appropriate controls.
• Support SAST, DAST, SCA, API security, and dependency vulnerability management.
• Promote secure coding practices based on standards such as OWASP Top 10 and OWASP ASVS.
• Partner with development, architecture, DevOps, and cybersecurity teams to reduce application-level risk.

Key Skills Required

• Strong previous software development/coding experience, such as Java, .NET/C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar.
• Strong Application Security and Cybersecurity knowledge.
• Secure coding and code-review experience.
• OWASP Top 10, vulnerability management, and threat modeling.
• SAST / DAST / SCA security tooling.
• API and web application security.
• Authentication and authorization concepts such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, RBAC.
• DevSecOps / CI/C D security integration.
• Ability to translate security risks into practical fixes for developers.

Salary Range - CA$ 100,000 - CA$ 120,000 Per Year
