Risk & Compliance Officer
A leading law firm is seeking a Risk & Compliance Officer to join its established Risk & Compliance function. This is an excellent opportunity for a compliance professional with AML and client due diligence experience to develop their expertise within a highly regarded legal environment. The role offers broad exposure to regulatory compliance matters, stakeholder engagement, and the opportunity to support complex, high-value legal work.
The Opportunity
Working as part of a collaborative Risk & Compliance team, you will play a key role in supporting the firm’s regulatory obligations, with a primary focus on anti-money laundering compliance and client due diligence processes. You will work closely with lawyers and business services teams, providing guidance on AML matters, reviewing client onboarding processes, and helping to maintain best practice across the business.
This position is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in legal risk and compliance while gaining exposure to a broad range of regulatory and governance matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Review client and matter files to ensure compliance with client onboarding and customer due diligence requirements.
- Support the firm’s ongoing AML monitoring programme and assist in meeting regulatory obligations.
- Respond to AML and compliance queries from legal and business services teams, escalating complex issues where appropriate.
- Conduct research and provide support on complex AML and financial crime matters.
- Identify potential compliance risks and communicate findings to senior compliance stakeholders.
- Assist with monitoring trends, emerging risks, and regulatory developments.
- Provide updates and reports on compliance activity and identified risk areas.
- Support the development of compliance knowledge and best practice across the business through guidance and training.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure a consistent and commercially focused approach to compliance.
About You
We are interested in speaking with candidates who have:
- Experience within a Risk & Compliance, AML, Financial Crime, or Client Onboarding role, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Strong knowledge of AML regulations and customer due diligence requirements.
- Excellent analytical and investigative skills with strong attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities.
- A proactive, organised, and solutions-focused approach.
- Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word.
- A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience would be advantageous.
