TD Bank Group is a Canadian bank founded in 1855 whose modern form dates from the 1955 merger of the Bank of Toronto and the Dominion Bank. It runs one of the two largest retail banking networks in Canada, an unusually large American retail franchise built along the east coast under the TD Bank brand, a wholesale bank through TD Securities and a direct investing business, and it held a substantial stake in Charles Schwab for several years. Headquartered in Toronto and listed in Toronto and New York, it has spent recent years rebuilding its anti-money-laundering controls after United States regulatory penalties.

The successful candidate will bring a strong combination of technical and business knowledge, ideally within Personal Banking, and will work closely with business, technology, development, and quality assurance teams. You will be comfortable navigating complex data challenges, working with large datasets, and adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Design and maintain data models using industry-standard modelling tools.
  • Analyze, profile, validate, and map source data to support integration into data platforms and warehouses.
  • Document current- and future-state data flows, data mappings, business rules, and technical decisions.
  • Define and maintain data dictionaries, metadata, and data lineage in alignment with enterprise standards and tools.
  • Investigate data quality and integrity issues, identify root causes, and partner with development teams to implement solutions.
  • Collaborate with business, technology, development, and quality assurance teams throughout design, development, testing, implementation, and post-implementation support.
  • Participate in business and technical design reviews to ensure data solutions support business and operational requirements.
  • Apply data governance, security, retention, and risk management requirements throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Support change and release activities and clearly communicate risks, issues, dependencies, and progress to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and share data expertise and best practices across the team.

Required Experience

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in data design, data analysis, business information management, data engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with data modelling, data mapping, data lineage, and requirements gathering.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with ETL/data integration processes.
  • Experience analyzing and working with large and complex datasets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including investigating and resolving data quality issues.
  • Experience translating business requirements into technical data requirements and solutions.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Undergraduate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Python and/or PySpark.
  • Experience with Azure Databricks.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Personal Banking products, processes, and data.
  • Experience with enterprise data governance, metadata management, and data lineage tools.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools.
  • Experience supporting data solutions through development, testing, implementation, and production support.
  • Experience working with big data technologies and modern data platforms.
  • Experience leading a workstream or contributing to complex, multi-team data initiatives.
