Reliability Engineer

We are pleased to share a brand-new role within our Quality division. Reporting to the Quality Engineering Manager, the Reliability Engineer is responsible for defining and maintaining the test methodologies, standards and validation approaches used to demonstrate product quality, reliability and performance.

The role works closely with Quality, Engineering and operational Test teams globally to ensure testing is appropriate, consistent and supported by robust evidence. The Reliability Engineer provides technical governance rather than undertaking day-to-day operational testing and acts as the key Quality interface for test methodology, standards and claims substantiation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define and maintain product test procedures, methodologies and validation requirements.
  • Support early test scoping and development of Quality Test Plans (QTPs).
  • Review and interpret test results, identifying risks and recommending further investigation where required.
  • Review test reports to ensure conclusions are robust, clear and supported by appropriate evidence.
  • Ensure product performance and marketing claims are supported by robust, traceable validation evidence.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant standards and methodologies, including IEC, ASTM and UL.
  • Participate in relevant standards councils and assess emerging requirements and their potential business impact.
  • Work with operational Test teams across the UK, USA, and Asia to drive consistent methodology.
  • Identify and propose new test methods, equipment and capability where required.
  • Maintain appropriate test documentation and support continuous improvement of validation processes.

The successful candidate will have a strong engineering and analytical mindset with experience in product testing, validation or reliability engineering. They will be able to interpret technical standards, test methodologies and complex test data and translate these into clear recommendations for Engineering and Quality teams.

They will be comfortable working across global teams and influencing how products are validated without directly managing operational testing activity. The role requires attention to detail, technical curiosity and the confidence to challenge test methods, results and conclusions where evidence is insufficient.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate:

  • Experience within product testing, reliability, validation or a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Strong understanding of test methodology and experimental approaches.
  • Working knowledge of international standards such as IEC, ASTM and UL.
  • Ability to interpret standards and assess their application to products and test methods.
  • Strong analytical capability, including interpretation of test results and technical data.
  • Ability to review technical reports and identify gaps or inconsistencies.
  • Understanding of product performance and claims substantiation.
  • Strong structured problem-solving and fault-finding capability.
  • Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across international teams.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
