Job Role: OpenShift Administration / KVM Administrator

Experience: 5–8 Years (7+ preferred in IT infrastructure with KVM virtualization and OpenShift administration)

Location: Pune / Hyderabad

Role Purpose:

Resolve high-priority incidents through advanced troubleshooting, ensure SLA compliance, analyse system performance trends, and create mitigation measures by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Areas of Responsibility:

• Triaging and resolution of tickets – Provide resolution to high-priority (P2) incident tickets, performing advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for timely closure.

• SLA Monitoring – Ensure SLA compliance for assigned technology areas and proactive escalation management.

• Performance tuning and optimization – Analyse system performance data, coordinate findings on system behaviour, support capacity planning initiatives.

• System Improvements – Create mitigation measures to evaluate new tools or improvements by collaborating with technical teams.

• Disaster Recovery – Perform security assessments and recovery drills; implement controls to ensure compliance with established security standards.

• Reporting and Stakeholder Engagement – Participate in weekly/monthly service review meetings, provide updates on performance and issues, support stakeholder communication.

• Team Management – Collaborate with team members to resolve open tickets and service requests.

• Knowledge Base & Continuous Learning – Contribute to updating SOPs, knowledge articles, and maintaining the knowledge repository for future ticket resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

• KVM Administration: Manage and maintain KVM-based virtualization environments, including provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting VMs. Optimize KVM performance, ensure high availability, implement security best practices.

• OpenShift Administration: Deploy, configure, and manage OpenShift clusters in on-premises and hybrid cloud environments. Monitor and troubleshoot workloads for high availability and performance. Manage networking, storage, and security configurations. Perform upgrades and patching.

• Monitoring and Optimization: Implement monitoring solutions for KVM and OpenShift using Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack. Analyze performance and recommend optimizations for resource utilization and cost efficiency.

• Collaboration and Documentation: Work with development, DevOps, and operations teams for seamless infrastructure/application integration. Document infrastructure designs, processes, and best practices.

Mandatory Skills:

• OpenShift Virtualization & Kubernetes – Hands-on deployment, administration, troubleshooting of OpenShift clusters.

• Distributed Systems Understanding – Knowledge of failure domains, resiliency, HA, scalability in distributed systems.

• Linux & Networking – Strong Linux fundamentals, networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing).

Requirements (Max 8 Points):

• 7+ years IT infrastructure experience with focus on KVM virtualization and OpenShift administration.

• Strong expertise managing KVM hypervisors and virtualized environments.

• Hands-on OpenShift installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.

• Solid understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Linux system administration and shell scripting.

• Familiarity with networking concepts, storage solutions, and security best practices.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
